  1. Skip, that was an awesome summary. Thank you for that insight. I think my takeaway is it all just depends. My Continental engine is solid, it holds temperatures of CHT/EGT very well, and I just need to watch it. It might be awesome or it might be an issue, but it seems it depends from motor to motor, and powerplants simply differ. So, I will be vigilant, but at this point, it's too early to tell. Thank you!
  2. And that's why I'm not toooooo concerned. I fly her gently; 65% power--and watching CHT and EGT very closely. CHT maintains in the low 300s with the power settings I'm using in climb and level-off. I feel confident I'm treating her like it's her Bday/Anniversary when I take her out, and it's only been like 10-15 hours, but I just wanted the experience on here to doublecheck my new-to-GA brain. Thank you, Carusoam.
  3. Um.........not sure.
  4. That's actually good news to hear... My bird is a Rocket (continental 520) with 800 SMOH. And what I'm hearing from you and Carusoam, it sounds more normal (1qt per 20 hours) than abnormal, but I'll definitely watch it closely. Thank you!
  5. Yea, that was my concern EXACTLY. The motor is very very solid and has proven reliable with the last owner (proven by mx books; not just "testimony"), but the low oil has my attention. Engine monitor, oil temp, oil pressure...all seem, well....perfect. So, I'll keep monitoring. Thank you for the insight!
  6. I think like 15 hours...and it hasn't changed/dropped.
  7. Ok... I've heard all these horror stories about "1 quart an hour" and how much oil their birds use. Mines uses NONE. It's still new-to-me, so I'm learning her personality, but she uses NO oil. I.e. I've never had to add any. Is that "awesome! Lucky you! The motor is soild" or is something off/wrong?
  8. OK...don't mean to derail the conversation, but thoughts about a pair of G5s versus an Aspen? Price seems the same...so thoughts??
  9. well may Well, this year is basic avionics upgrade year....next year will be either next-level avionics upgrade or interior via Hector.
  10. GREAT! why do i feel like my wallet just had like 10k evaporate???
  11. so AeroComfort is not only seats but the entire interior?? Panels and everything??
  12. Ok, related but sorta not... My seats aren't too bad but the rest of the interior (panels, carpet, etc) need some TLC. recommendations? Price average?
  13. I JUST closed and flew my new Rocket home... It was stressful, and to be honest, I'm excited but overthink everything about the plane (especially when I now am focusing on the little, will-need-to-fix-eventually things). But remember, no house/person/beer/spouse/thing/plane is perfect. You just have to make sure the negatives don't take away from the positives, then enjoy every freakin hour flying it!
  14. Well, there's a bunch of votes for sidewinder! Ok...thanks guys.
  15. Yea, that's why I'm asking... There's a little slope where i hanger her, and i think i popped a blood vessel. Hate paying the money for a powered tow bar, but hate paying medical bills more!
  16. Ok...I know this is beneath most of you and this forum, so apologies in advance... Any recommended power tow bars? I'm looking at the Sidewinder and the Robotow but I'm open to others... I just don't wanna pull the trigger (pun intended) without some pre-buy feedback. Thoughts on ease of use and power????
  17. I am, and I truly can't thank you enough. You spent a LOT of time helping, and I'm truly humbled...especially since we've never even met. Truly, thank you KLRDMD.
  18. Awesome! Thank you!
  19. I'm not familiar with the MAPA group...but I am curious about it now. Is there a schedule posted somewhere?? This is just a "fun" plane and not used for work, but I'm ALWAYS ready to put "more" in the proverbial toolbox of flying knowledge.
  20. I got checked out by a local instructor for my bi-annual, complex, and performance tickets. I have lots of time in high performance, complex aircraft...so I feel way more concerned about making the avionics do/say/reflect what I want then I am landing or flying!
  21. Thanks GSXR! I agree, but then again, I MIGHT be a tad bias!
  22. And it was awesome to meet you, GSXR, at KFTG as I was bringing her home!
  23. Oh! And special thanks inparticular to KLRDMD for the TONS of personal messaging!!
