  1. I LOVE the idea of this. I am sooooooooooo there!
  2. I might be transitioning from the first 1/3 into the second 1/3...God will let me know soon.
  3. very wise and experienced words, carusoam. "Better to be down here, wishing you were up there, then the other way around".
  4. Financially speaking, I'm ready to take-the-leap. Just a little apprehensive on "the first plane" leap...which is why all the questions, I suppose.
  5. I've been flying for 20+ years...just military. I'm spreading my wings as it were into GA. Mooneys meet the desired mission set. Fast crosscountry machines. What I'm learning is there are SO many variants (engines and models) in the <100k price range. Awesome and intimidating all at the same time.
  6. Ok...don't mean to keep asking dumb questions, but I know I have a lot to learn about Mooneys. How can a non-turbo charged engine (aka a M20M TLS motor) have 270 horse when the 231 turbos have 210???
  7. 231 LB vs. 262 360-MB...no brainer, right???
  8. I'm in Eastern Nebraska and have flown with 20J and 20K buddies, but the 262 was really the main question since i was so unfamiliar with the concept.
  9. ok...so I don't think i can afford a 252 at this point. So, eliminating that option and assuming all else being equal, is the 262 a no-brainer better investment and better performer than a 231?
  10. Thanks a TON, guys. It's a steep learning curve, so I truly appreciate the input/advice/experience.
  11. Ok, so I read about the differences between the 231 and 252...what about between the 252 and 262? Comparable??
  12. That's exactly what i've been told, GSXR. I guess that's why I'm leaning so heavily towards a 231. THENNNNNNNN, a 262 popped up, and temptation is a dangerous thing.
  13. As I'm trying to learn fast here, I'm really curious about your "no". Why? Just not enough bang for the buck in terms of power?
  14. Well, with a lot of family in the colorado (Denver and some in mountains) area, I'm leaning heavily toward a turbo, but it's not a must I suppose. I do like the high(er) altitude options for weather and wind considerations, and I like extra power for summer, high(er) pressure/density altitude options. Still, with all that said, I'm not die-hard, must-have turbo...yet.
  15. OK...at the risk of showing my ignorance, I ask the following: Besides the obvious engine difference, any significant differences between the 231, 252, and 262? I've heard "the 252 and 262 fixed some of the 231 issues". Like what?? Is it worth the money???
  16. HAHAHA! good to know.
  17. How do you like the 252 compared to the 231?
  18. excellent... Thank you Bryan.
  19. Carusoam...that's good to know! I do believe if it's the "right" plane, it'll happen but I'm in no rush. If Reconmax is another buyer, then the plane will find the right owner at the right time...
  20. Thanks Cody...I appreciate the recommendation on McClung!
  21. I'm looking to buy a 231 from jonesboro, AR, but I'm trying to find a neutral mechanic around there...or even memphis, TN...but mooney smart. Anyone have a recommendation?
