  1. @wombat Thanks for documenting all this, I've gotta imagine this is going to help somebody out there save a lot of stress and grief someday down the road. It must feel great having finally figured it out!
  2. @Gary Bymers Yes, I still have them. Appear to be mostly as I previously described, but these cracks in one of the wing lenses are a bit worse than I remembered. Might be repairable? I also still have the mid-wing lenses if anyone else wants those, they look exactly the same as the prior photo.
  3. Foothill Aircraft is a Mooney Service Center and seller right there at Cable, have you checked them out? They have an M20F for sale right now that I'm sure you could look at, since presumably they are hoping to sell it. https://www.controller.com/listing/for-sale/228189683/1974-mooney-m20f-piston-single-aircraft
  4. No, because I no longer own the plane. DM me and I will send you a photo from my sales ad.
  5. Hangar signs have been shipped and are no longer available. Here’s hoping the new owner will post a photo of their new home once they arrive!
  6. Shades are still available. Keep in mind for shipping that these are large and unusually shaped so it won’t be super cheap, but still cheaper than buying new ones!
  7. Ordered new ones from Vantage Plane Plastics. It was a pretty involved job to install them according to the mechanic and needed two guys.
  8. Quote sent. UPDATES: No one claimed the interior plastic pieces, which have been thrown away. Signs and shades are claimed, awaiting approval and payment of shipping quotes. The exhaust core is still available but is next to be thrown away. Last call!
  9. Adding another item for free pickup: M20J window shades for the front windscreen, pilot and door windows, and rear windows. Will probably work best on 1989-1998 SE/MSE/Allegro rounded rear windows but YMMV. Might work on an F or K also but no guarantees. These came with my plane when I bought it but I used jet shades instead and rarely if ever used these. They are quite used but you could tape them up, and you can’t beat free!
  10. Sure, I will ship. First show me a photo of your Mooney in a hangar!
  11. My mechanic told me, that the welding shop told him, it was not repairable, but YMMV. I didn’t speak to them directly so I don’t know anything more than the above. Offering it in case someone can use it for something and to keep it out of the trash, but it is 100% subject to a person’s own assessment in consultation with a qualified mechanic.
  12. No idea how but my mechanic said it’s not airworthy at my annual a couple years ago, and I agreed, so we replaced it. I think it was just age, there were no impacts to it or any abnormal engine issues I was ever aware of. It passed my prebuy and I never had a single backfire afterward, so I’m stumped.
  13. I have the following items available for free pickup from San Diego/El Cajon’s Gillespie Field. First up are interior plastics, assorted pieces, including headliner, pilot side, passenger side/door, right rear passenger side. Not the baggage compartment or the left rear pilot side. These were removed for replacement and are offered as-is. Second is a potentially unrepairable exhaust core, removed for replacement. Also as-is. Finally, third are Mooney hangar signs I received from @MooneyMitch . I don’t believe he charged me anything for them so neither will I. Only condition is you must own a hangared Mooney. Everything is first come, first served, and the interior plastics and exhaust will end up in the Dumpster if no one claims them.
  14. Thanks Lance! Please do not freeride/hijack my threads for your own sales. On BT you can lock a thread you started; wish I could do that here.
  15. Lance, I like you, and I hope deadnaming her was an honest mistake and not trolling for a political argument, given the name of the author on the page you linked is clearly Isabel Goyer, not Robert. To use that name and pronoun that aren’t even on the article instead seems like it might be intentional. She’s made her preference clear for quite some time now. If this was just a mistake, then accept my apologies. But if not, haven’t we all argued about this enough now? Let’s leave this pointless complaining that trans people exist back in 2023. Happy 2024 to everyone and respect to all. Yes, all, even those some of you may not like. We’re all in this together. /flame suit on
  16. G3X Touch

  18. @nevadabandit here’s an option for a replacement tach. Might need to send it to EI to have it remarked for a flat fee for any differences between the J and E.
  19. Howdy neighbor. Aero Accessories at KVNY might know where to look. http://aeroacc-vny.com 818-785-2821
  20. Gorgeous panel, well done! Does radar display on the TXis now or did you decide to drop it?
  21. You’re holding out on us — where are the photos of your cool new bird?! I’ve always had an affinity for Aerostars too.
  22. That’s not how I read it. I read that as @EricJ describing his own confusion upon hearing the words “1976 M20J.” It’s widely known that the first model year of the J was 1977, even though manufacturing began in 1976. The resulting ambiguity is, IMHO, all Eric is describing, since he personally owns a “1976” J himself and thus knows this better than anyone, yet he still chooses to describe it as a 1977 to avoid confusing people. And he calls his own plane a J. I don’t understand him to be arguing that his own plane or any other manufactured in 1976 isn’t a J at all. But he can speak for himself…
  23. I don’t think anyone is saying it’s not a J, they’re just saying a J built in 1976 should be referred to as a 1977, as @EricJ says he does. It’s about the model year nomenclature (1976, 1977, 1978…), not the model type (M20F, M20J…). You wouldn’t call a brand-new 2024 Mercedes a 2023 just because it was manufactured this month, or so the argument goes. I will admit I have not followed this debate closely so if anyone is actually saying his plane is not a J, I think that’s pretty clearly incorrect. It’s about what model year J.
  24. I would also do the GTN 650 now instead of paying to open up the panel twice. Sell the 430 while you still can since you've already decided to replace it.
