Random Mooney/Aviation Stuff - Pickup or Ship
ZuluZulu replied to ZuluZulu's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
Here’s another update: I’m still busy unpacking after my move and am going on a trip in a week, but when I return I will get back to this, obtain shipping quotes, and start sending things out. Stay tuned and sorry for the radio silence! -

This became too much of a project while also trying to move, so I’ll just take everything with me and ship from my new location. Stand by -
Constant error messages and failed image uploads
ZuluZulu replied to ZuluZulu's topic in Bug Reports & Suggestions
Even liking posts is generating error messages now. I also keep getting the above error message pretty much every time I click something. I got it twice just trying to get back to this thread. It's borderline unusable right now. And I tried to upload an image to this post and it wouldn't even let me try, it says "You cannot paste images directly. Upload or insert images from URL." Since when?! (plus posting this failed, so here's my second try) -

If I PMed you asking for your ZIP code, please provide it as soon as you can. For anyone interested in an item, and to save time, please PM me your ZIP code so I don't have to ask for it. Normally not a problem but when I have to send 5-10 messages asking for ZIP codes it gets really time-consuming, and I'm moving in a week and need to make this as efficient as possible. Once I get everyone's ZIP code I will go get shipping quotes. -

I have an additional item to throw on the pile: B-Kool swamp cooler, 28V, non-remote version. The flexible arm is getting brittle and has split in a few places. The majority of the airflow will still be directed as desired but it needs to be taped for leaks or replaced with a new flexible arm. With that in mind, price is $100 plus shipping. -

Sorry about these scammer scumbags. Maybe we should have a new rule that new users have to wait 7 days to PM? -
KSMO is Atlantic and that’s it. Or parking in transient. There’s a landing fee. KVNY has more options. I’m partial to Signature East. You can also park at, well, The Park, which doesn’t offer many services but does have cheaper self serve. KWHP, I’ve never flown into, so I’ll have to leave that to others. KSMO is the best experience and the one I would recommend: best views, oceanside, less turbulence than the valley usually, an iconic airport that’s closing this decade so you don’t have many more chances to visit. It will probably cost more but in my opinion it’s worth it, at least once. There’s good restaurants in walking distance and the flying museum is pretty good so there’s a lot to do without even leaving the airport, which might make for a nice day spent around aviation before venturing out into LA. It’s also easier to operate at SMO: one runway, simple taxiways, simple layout, no large jets. At VNY, you will need to be on your toes. Don’t know your experience level but if you are a newer pilot and/or don’t have much experience operating at a large airport with heavy jet traffic and heavy training traffic, it can be intimidating. Van Nuys has two runways where you can be side by side on final with big jets, taxiways are a little more complicated than you might think in places for an airport with no crosswind runway, and especially if you’re parking at The Park where there’s one way in and one way out, and ATC works quickly there and talks fast. I’ve had the most “expedite,” “without delay,” and “can you accept a short approach” instructions at VNY than any other airport in Southern California. One VNY advantage is weather. It is more likely to be VFR there when SMO is MVFR or IFR. When the marine layer comes in, it tends to hit SMO first. If you’re coming in June (during June gloom) this might be a bigger consideration, but most summer months it’s not as big of an issue. Consider visiting Catalina and Camarillo while you’re there, if you’re not doing so already. San Diego is also worth a good day trip.

This kibig liar asshole is a scammer. PM me directly if you are interested, I am never going to contact you from some random, brand-new account, and tell you to email someone else, obviously. Shame on you, kibig, you're a piece of shit. -
Here is a bunch of stuff ready to join a new Mooney home. Make me an offer and pay shipping. You can also pick up in SoCal. Please review the photos. Feel free to PM me with questions or ask for more photos. And if you really want me to quote you a price, just ask. Otherwise make me an offer, I'll google the item for like a minute to see if you're close enough, and make a quick decision. Their website has some weirdly aggressive disclaimers on it, like any links to their website without prior written permission will be prosecuted. Hope you have lawyers on retainer! -
Anyone else think it's kind of not cool to swoop in on another guy's ad and compete with him? I'd be pissed.

Struggling to get complex hours before ownership
ZuluZulu replied to SilentT's topic in General Mooney Talk
Telling them you have ten hours that you do not actually have is not at all the same as "I plan to log 10 hours in the near future." If you had said that initially, I would have had no quibble. Appreciate the clarification. -

Proving the value of free advice, "lie to the insurance company on purpose" is certainly ... an idea. -
@Niko182

Not to change the subject too much, but since you just inherited it — has it been flying regularly? If not I’d get it sorted mechanically before I worried about upgrading the panel. Hopefully you’re good to go there!
-
Since you’re going to be parking it outside, you might want a soft preference for planes with recent or at least good-quality paint. But I wouldn’t let it kill the deal if an otherwise good plane needed paint, just factor that in as something you might need to fix to protect it.
