I think I would still opt for an iPad instead. Much more versatile, update-able, and cheaper and can connect to most of the new GPS units to give you the info you need in flight. I know not a direct comparison and depends on what your doing.

Useful load, how important is it to you?
Carbon8 replied to Tim Jodice's topic in General Mooney Talk
I agree 3-4 is my limit if I stop for fuel, unless I can make it to my destination in 5 then I will choose not to stop for fuel. But if I have to stop no matter what I will split 4 hour intervals -

87J with a UL of 933 after a scale weigh 6 weeeks ago, issue I run into is without bladders and being a wet wing I don’t like putting the plane away without full fuel. So that’s 549# available. I’m also a bigger guy 250# and about 50# of flight bag and gear I carry leaves 249# left. Which fits 95% of my missions are 1 or 2 people. Killer is my SN is only a couple shy away from the GW increase to 2900# so that blew but I have never had a load issue. On the other hand I knew an ovation with that by the time it was full of TKS and fuel it had a 200# load. That would be useless and I don’t think that plane ever flew under GW to be honest. -
Dropped off early Sept 2019 picked up first week of April. So 7 months.

Just got my plane back from Joe 3 weeks ago, curious how yours turns out.

Without the 510 the Bluetooth will only talk to garmin pilot or fltplan. Need the 510 to connect to foreflight.

So I just cut the check with my shop for my light panel overhaul. Adding dual G5's, a GNC255 and a GTX345r to connect to my GTN650 as well as a flight stream 210. With the announcement today I am curious if I should just ditch the 345r and get the new GNX375 for a second GPS nav, transponder, weather, and traffic. As well as just then getting the flight stream 510. Not clear on what the main differences are yet, mainly will the 375 connect to foreflight? Online it only says garmin pilot and fltplan Thoughts?

Still waiting on J...……..

My AP came back today everything is ordered for install but through his research he found the KAP100 uses the run coordinator for roll steering so we will be removing the DG, and AI but keeping the T/S. How do I verify if the KAP100 really uses the T/S or the AI as its been mentioned a couple times here. I trust my AP but others here said its the AI that the system needs.

Brian, Will try this, I normal use 2600RPM for all other stages of flight and it never moves regardless of climb, cruise, or decent. Will set it to 2700 and check but so far I have only ever had it happen on takeoff.
-
How would a phone app verify RPM? Other question is would this even be noticeable on an analog gauge, I only notice it because its digital and flashes red, but on an analog is 40RPM even a noticeable mark

Verify what Yetti?

Hey guys, Just curious I have noticed lately on takeoff my RPM will go into the redzone, I have a CGR-30P engine monitor for RPM and on takeoff once airspeed gains the RPM will go to 2740RPM. I just twist the prop back a bit to get it back to 2700RPM. Just wondering if this is a concern? Could it be due to cold weather flying making more power than standard? Thoughts? Thanks

Photo Gallery of Everyone’s Panels and Paint Schemes?

N1137Z Currently, changes are in the works throughout the year to modernize her a bit more. Panel refresh, AP, Paint, and Interior. -
Carusoam, So G5 to GTN and my current 106 to GMC255, Original the shop recommended an additional 106 which is strange they wouldn't just advise to connect once source to the 650.
-
Is it correct the G5 HSI will replace the GI106 for a CDI? So I can use the G5 HSI w/ the GTN 650 and use my current 106 for the GNC255? Shop advised it best to keep a separate CDI for each nav as a redundancy, or can both just connect to the G5 HSI? Is that advised to use a single HSI for both NAV's

Not familiar with T&B location?

KAP100 is only a wing leveler and single axis heading control.

From the G5 Manual, doesn't mention anything else. 5.12.4.1 G5 Configuration Honeywell (Bendix King) Autopilots Note: The Flight Controls Configuration shown below only needs to be set on the master G5. In a single installation the master is the only G5 indicator installed. In a dual installation the master is the G5 Attitude indicator. Garmin just released today approval for the F33A, hopefully that means the J soon.

KAP100 is on the G5 list for compatible autopilots that I have seen.

Hey all, Going to be starting on my instrument rating in late April and before then I wanted to do a mild panel upgrade to improve connectivity, data input/ output (Weather/Traffic), panel cleanup, and to prepare for future upgrades (GFC500) Current Panel Will be removing Trig TT31 KX155 and CDI Strike Finder (Currently INOP, will attempt to repair first but if unable will remove) AI/DG, Vacuum System Will be installing Garmin Dual G5 AI, HIS W/ GPS Garmin GNC255 W/ GI-106 CDI Garmin GTX345r Transponder Garmin 510 Flight Stream Replacing Landing Light Rocker Switch Cleanup or replace panel with aluminum cut one Looking for some input and advise on the above, IE what could be done better? What else to look at during this? Only real gripe I have is the screen size of the 650, wish someone made something similar to the MX200 MFD that could display the 650. I will be primarily using foreflight with the 345r for traffic and weather but would still be nice to have something in the panel to display both but I do not see the need to do a 750 at this time just for the display. Only other concern is with only the GTN650 and the 345r, if the 650 fails I loose all transponder controls, transponder will still squawk what was last input so not sure if its a huge concern.
