Panel upgrade electrical documentation
spistora replied to spistora's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Thanks. I did get 5 copies printed locally to work with. -
What 2.25" instrument would you add to this panel design?
spistora replied to birdofjoy's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
I'm working on a similar layout, for reference. I found Xpanel to not be accurate. I have to double check my panel measurements but they are pretty close. 231AF Panel r1.pdf -
Mine went 44 years on the original seal. Just patched two minor seeps this year's annual. No leaks since patch, but question 2 didn't have that option.

Panel upgrade electrical documentation
spistora replied to spistora's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Thanks for all the ideas. It seems like have a combination of the revised original schematics and the new block diagram style is pretty typical. If I get board in the future, I might convert the marked up schematics into a more readable format matching the manufacturers drawings. -
Panel upgrade electrical documentation
spistora replied to spistora's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Thanks Skip. That's kind of the direction I think I'm going. I printed the original schematic in large format and plan to mark up a demo set and an as-installed set for the original wiring. I was contemplating redrawing the original schematics in a similar format to the connection diagrams provided by Dynon/Garmin for the as-installed drawings. I'm not sure if it's worth the effort though. -
For those of you that have panel upgrades, I'm curious what type of electrical documentation you did, or what you may have received from the installer. I trying to decide if I should redraw the schematic in a similar format to the original, or redraw in format similar to Dynon's example. I assume installers aren't redrawing full schematics but I'm curious how they mark up existing schematics, if they do. Anyway, I mainly interested in seeing some examples of redrawn schematics if anyone has something to share. Thanks. MAN134 elec.pdf Dynon example.pdf

I purchased my 79 M20K with -LB engine and no Merlyn or intercooler. Added both on the first annual. Great plane.

I haven't spent too much time with it yet but so far I like it. The BT connectivity is nice and the audio quality is an improvement. The intelliaudio definitely makes it interesting listening to two channels simultaneously.

Upgraded to a PS Engineering audio panel and have this for sale. Working great when removed, very good condition. Originally installed new in Sept 2015. $750 + shipping, or best offer before putting it on Ebay. Thanks Steve

I started wearing progressive lenses about 10 years ago and have found getting the right lens manufacturer is a big part of having them work well. My wife works for some optometrists and has been working with lens maker for quite a while. Getting the right progressive profile for what you are using them for is important. She will agree with Hank, pilots and engineers are pretty hard to please when correcting vision (I'm both). Ask lots of questions about the difference in lens options, and take them back if you don't adjust to them in a few days. They don't always get the measurements correct, as mentioned earlier.

M20K Electrical Schematics 1 Left SN 25-0172 to 0246

I haven't found any wiring that isn't covered for my 231. After using the pdf file a few times, this large printed version was well worth the $15. -
Kind of looks like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/265588856868?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A11vjAzp7CSze15vqd3xHazA28&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=265588856868&targetid=1599090336897&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9024320&poi=&campaignid=15275224983&mkgroupid=131097072938&rlsatarget=pla-1599090336897&abcId=9300697&merchantid=6296724&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0umSBhDrARIsAH7FCofa4eo_crtctP5DhaZldMWW8owOCnYIsxiOZJ-ST057m4UNPPuGNn4aAmbcEALw_wcB I was going to guess zener diode.

If you have the Turboplus intercooler, they have power correction chart near the bottom of their webpage: http://www.turboplus.com/mooney231-intercooler.asp http://www.turboplus.com/documents/Turboplus-power-correction-table.pdf -
My hangar isn't anything special but I do have one of these in it: https://smile.amazon.com/MIDEA-MAD30C1YWS-Portable-Dehumidifier-basements/dp/B07NRDBBH5/ref=sxin_14?asc_contentid=amzn1.osa.ad4c9e4e-d868-4f3d-b9f0-8addc39b845f.ATVPDKIKX0DER.en_US&asc_contenttype=article&ascsubtag=amzn1.osa.ad4c9e4e-d868-4f3d-b9f0-8addc39b845f.ATVPDKIKX0DER.en_US&creativeASIN=B07NRDBBH5&crid=12NS0AH5UT874&cv_ct_cx=portable+dehumidifier&cv_ct_id=amzn1.osa.ad4c9e4e-d868-4f3d-b9f0-8addc39b845f.ATVPDKIKX0DER.en_US&cv_ct_pg=search&cv_ct_we=asin&cv_ct_wn=osp-single-source-earns-comm&keywords=portable+dehumidifier&linkCode=oas&pd_rd_i=B07NRDBBH5&pd_rd_r=3b84667e-66a0-4bb9-a723-ac93f4ffc9b6&pd_rd_w=RRyuC&pd_rd_wg=wqLBO&pf_rd_p=5846ecd6-3f37-4a28-8efc-9c817c03dbe9&pf_rd_r=KHPACRDJ3JEX7Q5QQWD6&qid=1642202820&sprefix=portable+dehum%2Caps%2C134&sr=1-1-64f3a41a-73ca-403a-923c-8152c45485fe&tag=21oak-20 It was recommended by someone on the forum a year or two ago and I was initially skeptical that it would do much. It actually works really well. After a rain when water runs across the hangar floor, it will dry the concrete in about a hour. According to the display it maintains about 40-50% humidity in the hangar when it 80-90% outside.

I use this on a RAM yoke mount and it works well for me. I am using a Samsung tablet very close in size to the Ipad mini's. https://www.amazon.com/Mounts-HOL-TAB29U-Unpkd-Tab-tite-Samsung/dp/B016WQEY66/ref=asc_df_B016WQEY66/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309807187084&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8537952937648302602&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9024320&hvtargid=pla-570327155669&psc=1

Bendix ignition switch repair kits on eBay for $30

I have some contact cleaners, I'll give them a try. I did check the solenoid. There is no voltage at the control signal terminal with the key turned and pushed. Thanks. -
Bendix ignition switch repair kits on eBay for $30
spistora replied to Prior owner's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Looks like my switch is not working. Did anyone have one of the repair kits that they would like to get rid of or know where I can find one? I've check controller and ebay, and there doesn't appear to be any for sale a the moment. -
I use this spreadsheet: https://themooneyflyer.com/Excel/AircraftStatusSheet.xlsx

Thanks @EricJ. That definitely looks like it.
