  1. On take off, it was in that 24-5 gph for flow during take off, in level cruise at 2500 rpm we ran about 27-28in with almost full rich and got 13-14 gph.
  2. I was going to switch to tempest but I got this advice from my Mechanic. curious what others have heard? " When the Tempest/Unison plugs first came out we started to encourage the change over as they were cheaper. Over time we found that they did not last as long, got fouled quicker resulting in additional maintenance time. We have since changed back to Champion – A little extra money, however lest headache/maintenance – downtime? "
  3. I tried that on the way back, no matter what i do it always shows 10 degrees down. On the ground without the engine running when I turn on the FD only it will indicate 10 degrees down.
  4. It definitely needs to be aligned, It was a significant amount of right bank. We had full tanks on take off. Weight in the cabin wasn't very different. It would try to do a 10-20 degree right turn if you let it. I had to be very heavy on the left aileron to keep it level.
  5. ha I wish, I'll have mine here in a few weeks I hope! along with some gami injectors
  6. Not sure, If I just press the FD button on the auto pilot, the indicator rises up from the bottom and stops at 10 degrees. From startup it never comes to a level pitch even if the plane is level.
  7. we did not open the cowl flaps, we only had them open for take off and closed once we set cruise. We had almost full mixture and running about 13-14gph. My friend has the same plane just no intercooler and we don't have these issues, but he does have a new 830 installed.
  8. The electric trim worked fine. but I couldn't use altitude hold. I was in nav/heading mode only, so I was just using the up/down buttons to control pitch. It was not turning the trim wheel but pushing the yoke in and out to control pitch. But I could not get it to lower the nose, i think this was because the computer thought it was already 10 degrees down?
  9. Flying my plane home for the first time. It has a JPI 700 and with a 450 Fuel Flow. 360-LB with Turbo and Intercooler. Using the POH we set a recommended cruise but found cylinders 3 and 4 were running at about 412 degrees. We could not lean out and ran almost full mixture to keep under 400 degrees and a TIT if 1525. The old analog CHT showed temp of around 340-360 degrees. Altitude of 11,000 feet and OAT of -2 Celcius. I'm planning to get a new JPI 830 but just wondering if any others have had an experience like this? Is the 700 starting to show issues? Looking for some advice.
  10. Flying home today my Flight Command Indicator was showing 10 degrees down. So we could not use altitude hold, even flying with out alt hold if I pressed the down button to keep the nose down it would not do anything. Is it time to replace the KI 256 and KI 525A with an aspen?
  11. Flew it home this morning from calgary. A few minor issues to resolve, right wing feels really heavy during level flight, not sure if the JPI is working properly and the Attitude indicator isn't working properly so we could not use altitude hold of really even the auto pilot as it always wanted the nose night. I'll get some separate posts on the later, but I am just pumped to have my plane home!
  12. I have the waas version, so it should be a easy swap.... really leaning on doing this, but I cant pull the trigger.
  13. From looking at the details on the iPad app a 550 and iPad would be pretty sweet. It's too bad it doesn't have two way communication with ForeFlight though. I wonder if that's coming? Swapping the 430 for a 440 just seems like a no brainer for the money.
  14. Why do you use both high boost and the primer? I would have thought it would be recommended to use the low boost on approach similar to a cirrus?
  15. Do you get the same information slots along the bottom as a pro? I prefer horz to verticle, so that may be the way to go for me.
  16. Has anyone on here done it? Any feedback? Pro's con's? i'm on the fence. I was going to keep my 430 and get a flight stream 200, but for the same price I can just get the IFD440...Not sure what to do, really hoping for some feed back.
  17. The ipad pro I have is the same size as an ipad air. They have 2 pro sizes. I definitely don't have the large one! You don't miss the larger screen of an ipad air?;
  18. I'm picking my mooney in a few weeks, and just curious about the boost pumps. I has a prime pump button, low boost and high boost. I get the prime for engine starting, what do you use the low and high boost for?
  19. Just curious what people are running. I have been flying 172s so an ipad pro on the yoke was easy, but I am moving to an m20k and just wondering what people use and how people mount them?
  20. Has garmin announced an end of life for the 430/530? It would be a bummer to buy a 530w and fund out it won't be supported in the next 5 years.
  21. My plan right now is to try and grab that 530w thats forsale on here, put the 430 as my secondary. put in a jpi 830 (upgrade the 700) and add in a flightstream 210. i'm also going to grab the portable sirus xm for weather for now too. I'll figure out the rest after oshkosh and see what is going to change.
  22. Just checking to see if there are any 430W or 530W's for sale?
  23. Well, went to fly the plane yesterday, all looks good so i will hopefully have in home in a few weeks! Changing my mind about avionics now. Thinking of putting in a 2 or 3 screen aspen display, use the current king cdi for my backup, put in a second 430 with waas, and the flight stream 210. I'm just going to use the Sirus xm for weather on my ipad in canada for now. and keep my stratus for ads-b in the usa until I figure out my final config.
