  1. I was, it was right on spec for 65% lop and 75% rop
  2. I did try that, but it seemed to run smoother at 2400. The engine as a whole runs so much cooler and smoother, I just loose some speed. I guess when i'm in a real hurry I can run ROP and put the hammer down.
  3. Well did a 2 hour flight today. lop I did 30in and 2400-2500 rpm 10.5gph and got about 144-148 true. rop I did 33.2in and 2400rpm and was 17.1gph but 159 true. this was all at 10500 and +7 celcius i ran the lop with a turbo tit of 1590 and rop at 1475 is that too high for the turbo?
  4. yeah I do have the VG's still on it. any idea how much those could slow it down?
  5. I need to get up ab learn lop. You are running faster speeds, less power and significantly less fuel. Holy smokes!
  6. So much for flying fast! what do you true out at with 65%
  7. Yes, I agree I do need to learn LOP. what TAS do you hit st 75% power?
  8. I have an 81 M20K. New to me with about 20-30 hours on it so far, so still trying to figure it out. The plane has TKS, merlyn waste gate, intercooler and gami injectors. My aspen will usually show a true airspeed speed of 155-160kts between 9000 and 12,500. Is this pretty normal or am I missing a bit of speed? I also find that I'm burning 14-16gph. still playing around with settings but doing about 33.4 and 2400rpm at 10500 on the way home from Oshkosh gave me about 160kts true. Temps at 10500 were about 13 degrees so my middle cylinders were running at about 390, could have probably opened up the cowl flaps a bit. Does this sound like normal operation? I did also recently put in new baffles from bee gee and they seem to be working much better, however on climb i go back to 36" and 2600 rpm and I can usually do about 500-700fpm and keep my #1 cylinder under 400 degrees. any tips are appreciated!
  9. Just upgrades to a psa340 at Oshkosh. I'm here for the rest of today if someone is interested. it will come with a new tray and connector kit.
  10. We aren't coming until Wednesday or Thursday if weather goes bad.
  11. GA camping is full already? Hopefully I don't get kicked out of vintage with my buddies.
  12. We were hoping to stay as a group was the problem.
  13. Not that I know of...tecnnically I'm not vintage I was going to sneak in there with the other two planes.
  14. Hey everyone, we have run into an issue. The person who was going to reserve us some sites at Oshkosh ran into engine problems. Would someone be able to help us reserve 3 sites in vintage? We are planning to come down on Wednesday.
  15. I would be in!
  16. I ordered the Baffles from bee gee, i'll try that and then do a flow test next. it's *hot* here today and it did the same thing. Its either baffles or that gami injector. So i'll try the baffles first and i'll call gami.
  17. Found it! Here's a link in case someone else is curious. http://www.csobeech.com/baffle-seal.html
  18. Do you have some contact info for him. that website is a bit confusing. I can't find contact info for anyone named guy?
  19. Newish, I had a jpi700 but now I have the 830 and I can really see it as an issue. Before the gamis it was really bad
  20. Hi Everyone, i'm trying to work out some bugs on my new plane. On takeoff I climb out between 100 and 110 kts. with cowl flaps open and I will get temps over 400 degrees only on that cylinder. i'm running 38in manifold and 2700 rpm, full mixture for the climb. I do have gami injectors, new tempest fine wire plugs and just had the fuel flow adjusted to 24 gph at 40in on the ground. After the climb when I set for cruise all my temps are perfect. I set for 33.4in 2300rpm and 1475 TIT. she just purrrrrs along. I'm planning on calling gami, maybe that #1 cylinder injector needs to be tweaked from more, or maybe look at the baffles. I just figured I can't be the first person that deal with this. The picture with the aspen shows the climb and the 410 degree cyl temp, the second shows in cruise and all the normal temps.
  21. Where can a guy get the buttons fixed? Currently have to press them firmly to get them to work. I have waas already. I was told $1000 for an overhaul to the whole unit?
  22. I got my plane back, but we may have found some issues with the flight director computer. 1. When I use my trim the flight director bars jump to a 45 right roll, and come back instantly after I use the trim switch. 2. On a GPSS approach the FD Bars want to jump 20 degrees up. My ame is talking to BK and Aspen today to see if they can find anything but we're thinking the FD computer has issues and either needs to be replaced or repaired. I'm hoping someone else has seen this?
  23. To be IFR certified in canada I need two nav sources, the 300xl is a com only..no nav. Ironically with all the VORs going away and pretty much everything gps is was the cheapest way to get going until I can afford two new 650s
  24. Old panel and the new panel with my aspen and jpi 830! Can't wait!
  25. Yup! I just do my go arounds with my gear down, they don't happen often and there is some assurance that I know my gear is already down and one less thing to worry about. a circuit won't take long so not really worth it to put the gear up.... Long story short...don't worry about the gear! go get your mooney!
