  2. Both daughters are attending Texas A & M, College Station. Oldest is in Geology. And before the sympathetic comments start, I'm married to a financial planner who agreed to the Mooney purchase. She is the one that was on board to fund the 529 plans and sign up for the Texas Tomorrow Fund. I'm a lucky son of a gun. See y'all at Oshkosh. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  5. I have searched and searched but can't find it. There was a really good article by Barry Schiff in AOPA Pilot Magazine about this very subject. His point was that ATC is obligated to give you the deviation. Even if traffic is conflicting. You as PIC are responsible for the safe conduct of your flight. If there is traffic out there, that is ATC's problem. In 11,550 hours of flying since 1985 and seven type ratings, I don't think ATC has ever denied a turn for weather. It is a valid concern though, so be careful. SP
  6. It's all about the planning you put into a trip and having a plan B, maybe even a plan C. I used to fly a Hawker 800 to Bermuda regularly and we began the trip in Houston. We stopped on the East Coast for fuel just for this very reason of finding a closed runway. One passenger grumbled until we explained the lack of options. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I just bought one for $68.00 from an Italian dealer through ABEBooks.com Vince
