  4. My setup is much like the previous post from Bob_Belville. The heater is a Stanley pro-Ceramic from Lowes - $50. It has an adjustable thermostat on the top.The duct work is a 4"X8' expandable dryer duct coupled to a 4"X12" floor vent with an adapter found in the floor vent department. I drilled holes and used sheet metal screws to help hold everything together. With a little trimming with sheet metal shears, the floor vent fits perfect over the front of the heater. The entire setup cost us less than $75.
  5. Rumor has it, the plane is actually a Mooney M20A with a new paint job. Or, maybe a 301?
  6. Last weekend, on a three hour flight, my Garmin Aera 796 discharged its battery completely even though plugged in to the 12 Volt system using the adapter that is supplied with the Garmin unit. I'm going to try an inverter and use the AC docking unit that comes with the 796. As suggested in one of the above posts, I tried in in a car, and it does work. The inverter I am using also has a 5 VDC USB charging outlet. I plan on using that for my iPad and ForeFlight as I have experienced the same charging issues with the iPad. Has anyone else noticed a short battery life when using the 796? -------------------------- Edit: After posting this, I found another thread discussing voltage issues where it was suggested that a low voltage on the buss (as low as 13.6) could cause the unit not to charge. I'm thinking that an adapter reducing 24 volts to 12 might actually be too low a voltage to charge the iPad (original post) or a Garmin 796. In my case, the adjustment of the voltage regulator would be a much more elegant fix than the suggested inverter - and perhaps cheaper. For the 24 volt system of the OP, the adapter might still be in question.
  7. Upgraded to a new Garmin and I also have an iPad with ForeFlite. I can't find room to mount my tried and true Garmin 495 along with the other two so I must part with it. (Actually, the wife said sell it or else .) The unit is in great working order and comes with everything in the attached picture, including the yoke mount, external antennae, both AC and DC power units and the carry case. It has been well taken care of, I find no cosmetic flaws. It has always been used with a screen protector. I will sell it here for $400, PM please. Sold on e-bay - wife is happy now Ken
  8. I bought two aileron and two rudder servos last month from Brittain. ABOUT $150 each plus core. They also have the retractable step servo which is slightly higher. The parts are all yellow tagged. The boots by themselves are no longer available for "field repair." You have to buy the entire unit. When I asked about the Thumb switch, they suggested I send it in for repair. The only thing I can see that would be replaced are the two "O" rings. The repair manual is in the downloads section of this forum. Lasar also has the parts at ABOUT $10 higher. Hope this helps. My PC also had worn and loose tubing on the roll trim valve in the yoke. This turned out to be the main problem. I replaced all the servos even though they were not actually torn, they were definitely leaking. Ken
  9. I am not having much luck finding rudder pedal extensions. Has anyone had the extensions machined/manufactured locally? What would be a reasonable cost to do so? Ken
  10. They were sold before I was able to buy them. Thanks for your reply.
  11. I would like to buy a set of 3 inch rudder pedal extensions for a Mooney M20C. The only ones I can find commercially are way out of line price wise, IMO. Anyone? Suggestions for sources?
  12. Do you still have the extensions. If so, I would like to buy them. Let me know . Ken
