I did not do it myself. I can not answer that. All of my advice has come from speaking with Avidyne Engineers. You can email Tech Support, they are great at getting back to you.
Can you run the IFD on the battery minder without draining the battery? If not, I wouldn't do it. If you can then great. Also, be sure to write down all of your settings before the upgrade. You will loose all of them and need to re enter them.
Are you installing the upgrade on a bench or with ground power? DO NOT UPDATE ON BATTERY POWER. The leading cause of bricking is a drop in voltage during the install. Even on a bench have a UPS connected.
Not completely true. The IFD100 & IFD panel mount need to have the same version of charts. Every time you download the update for your panel mount go to the IFD100 app and update it with the Jepp login screen. Also, be sure to go to the settings on the IFD100 and select which panel mount you have. It will still work if the wrong one is selected but you will not have all the information (weather, traffic, fuel flow) on the app.
I don't mind going west. In fact since the coast slants N-NW, I'm pretty sure I do not add any time to my flight. Plus by the time I would be crossing PBI @ 2K, I am already at cruise altitude.
I was simply questioning why they can not clear me to the fix they vector me over. I even filed for the very fix they RV me over but would not issue in my clearance.
Thank you for watching/subscribing & giving positive feedback! I try to make each one have a purpose besides just showing a flight. Which can be more difficult then you think. LOL
Sounds to me like you did not have the ear plugs seated in your ear properly. I own 3 sets and have owned them for 10 years now. I used them in my Mooney and now in my Baron. I love them and have never had an issue. But I do know what your complaining about as I've had that when I didn't have them in my ear properly. You either the wrong size plugs or your just needed to squeeze them in insert the deeper in your ear. Or a combination. Also try pulling on your ear when you are insetting them to get a better seal/fit.
Can you tell me a little emote about how the wire presets work? I read about it but I do not totally understand how I would use it in my daily flying.
Thanks,
I love that story Hank!! I have shared aviation with many people over the last 20+ years, somehow this has been the most memorable and the most fulfilling flight yet!
I am very lucky. I've been flying for a long time but it wasn't until recently she even expressed that she wanted to go flying... Had I known I would have taken her 20 years ago!
