  1. I recently got a landing fee bill from Santa Monica for when my plane was there a decade ago....I forgot the details and just threw it away....
  2. pictures of everything including wheels please
  3. I did flight custom 3 all around with the M airstop tube for the nose and a different brand tube for the mains. The guys I used for the install let's just say were average, I am being kind. The valve stem touches the side of the wheel where my last one did not....I will have to use a screwdriver to get a pressure fitting on...My mains with the 70 degree stems are great. enclosed is a picture of my nose. Pictures of the rest are in that other thread I think. Also be sure that if you have hubcaps on your mains that your mechanic puts on and tightens all three screws. Otherwise you will have to hope the shop steps up and does the right thing,,,these guys at least did that...
  4. Got my flight customs 3's on and even new hub caps....don't ask about the caps....my blood pressure finally coming down...
  5. My airworthiness certificate is kind of thrashed....how can I get a new one issued?
  6. It looks like it but without direct comparison it’s hard to tell.
  7. Long story short but after 61 years and an unsupervised mx event my hub cap is gone. The shop said they will make it right but I was just looking up for curiosity. Here is a picture of what it looks like. I have the part numbers but I cannot source the exact one. Ideas on what I am to expect? part number 38520A in my parts manual. Is it needed? I know later models don't even have them. Just the exposed cotter pin.
  8. It's been installed. removed the cam locks and used the screws from the K&N.
  9. had that years ago....I think LASAR has some sort of kit or did the overhaul on it....
  10. Those look like 90 degree stems vs 70 degree
  11. Most mechanics are to time pressed to clean it properly. Or at all. Even during annual. If they do clean it they use compressed air and destroy it. Removing it and soaking it and rewetting it never occurs. So this tempest one is supposed to be mechanic friendly. See what happens…..
  12. I have a K&N wet filter... Just received the Tempest 7172 and it came with mounting hardware I am not familiar with. My old one uses screws....did I order the wrong one? how should I go about this? Will put it on next week....
  13. Thank you....looking now.....I also have super hawk tires on and was thinking of other choices....although my super hawks have been great....just now getting a small flat spot after almost 500 landings.... any issues with the valve stem being to long? I have read some reviews about that on those....
  14. how do you have air stops on your C. I just learned that the mains cannot come with an angled valve stem for air stop tubes. Do you have straight or angled stems? or maybe you have different wheels. One of the shops down here in Florida messed it up so bad I have one angled and one straight after paying for two new tubes. The straight valve is a pain in the ass to service. I feel I am going to break the stem off every time I bend it out. Archive.zip
  15. I have a C model and coming up on tires and tubes....I used to have air stop tubes until a mx shop messed them all up. (long story)... how often are you servicing the tires with air with those tubes? I remember doing it about twice a year at most....maybe less....that is with a lot of flying...100 hours a year... Thank you I reed to add pictures but the website said I exceeded my limit....so I guess I can never add pictures again....why do we pay?
  16. Mine came off the carb on the first flight after being installed by a MSC.....did you know the mixture can act as a throttle?
  17. My installer is banned from touching my plane....long story....
  18. I have the new software and it can still be trick fcuked into staying on with the master off. Happens when you turn off the airplane master and for some reason turn it on then back off. I do this sometimes when I forget to get my tach time on the JPI... So from now on my procedure is to turn the master off and say outloud countdown started....not a checklist thing just into my wrote memory now....
  19. I had a MSC install a new one for me on my C from McFarlane. All I can say is be sure to vet your installer...took two years to make it right.
  20. The 1964 C that I own will take 20-30 minutes to remove the cowling.....if you are lucky....so many screws you cannot count them....
  21. you can't remove or install the cheeks and the top in 5 minutes....unless you have 6 people working it at the same time...The two bolts in the front that hold the top on that need to be removed near the air inlet take about 10-15 minutes each to remove....
  22. I have a C and 90% of the labor to change my oil is removing the cowling and re installing....
  23. I consider myself pretty tech savvy, at least with user interfaces with avionics. I have FF with a full Garmin panel. GTN, 510 etc...I have to have GP for the database stuff and every now and then I try to use GP and there is no way it's going to happen. FF requires no reading and very little practice to figure out, intuitive to say the least. GP I should probably take a class or I can spend a week buried in the app and let the rest of my life waste away...not worth it. I cant even create a flight plan in GP and then to edit it makes me want to just through the iPad across the room...
  24. Where does the plane live?
  25. After my new panel install at XXX services I tipped each mechanic and the logbook sticker girl a 200 dollar gift card at the best steakhouse in town. 1000 in total...in return I was almost killed twice and also suffered a most embarrassing mx failure flight cancelation. The Japanese have the right idea.....
