  1. I would be interested in buying the empty fuselage including the wings and tail. Please let me know if you do decide to part it out. Thanks Mitch
  2. I'm located in South West Florida. If anyone could tell me of any salvage yards anywhere in the south east United States that would be great I can start there. As far as any pushback from local government I plan on just doing it and suffering the consequences afterwards. I'll post pictures once it's complete. Thanks again to everyone for any help you can provide. Mitch
  3. Hey Guys, My family and I are Mooney lovers through and through. We have flown our little Mooney all over the country. We have decided to use an airplane fuselage for a treehouse in our back yard. We live on the Main Street in our town where it will be highly visible. So with that all said it can only be a Mooney! Does anyone have an old fuselage they would sell or know of one for sell? Thanks, Mitch
  4. Hey guys, Is there anyone out there with experience on replacement exhaust systems for a M20E? I want to put a new stock exhaust system on my airplane complete. I do not want to have mine refurbished and I do not want a power flow exhaust. Any recommendations or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mitch
  5. I totally agree. I much rather land in a crosswind than take off.
  6. I really appreciate all the Information and opinions. Can anyone out there tell me the difference between a stock M20E exhaust and a stock 201 exhaust? Are the stock exhaust systems interchangeable between the 201 and a M20e? Thanks Mitch
  7. Hey guys, I'm looking for any insight any of you may have on the difference between a M20E exhaust and a 201 exhaust. It was recommended to me to replace my original 1965 exhaust (maybe not original but at least the same style) with a new Mooney 201 exhaust. I would appreciate any thoughts you guys may have on this. Thanks, Mitch
  8. Hey guys, Thanks for all the feed back on the battery. I have been having some issues with my compass. I had the gasket and fluid replaced but it is still giving me trouble. I have to decided to replace it with a new one. Any recommendations on a new one would be appreciated. It is currently mounted on the down post in the middle of the windshield. I would like to get one with new mounting brackets too. M20E Super 21 Thanks Mitch
  9. Hey guys, Any recommendations on what is the best 12 volt battery for my Mooney M20E? Thanks, Mitch
  10. I don't have enough good things to say about PJ (Phil Jimenez) he has worked on my plane for the last two years and never once has he tried to sell me anything I didn't need. He is very thorough and does great work. His prices are very good and so is his turn around time. He will always take your phone calls and if you leave him a message he calls back promptly. You should really consider this guy His phone number is (863) 873-9999. You'll be glad you called him!
  11. Hello, I bought my Mooney M20E Super 21 In May 2013. I was still a student with only 39 hours. I spoke with Cliff at falcon insurance in Kerryville Texas and bought my insurance policy for $1700. for the year. I took my check ride and got my PPL at 45 hrs. I then took 7 hrs of complex training and was given my complex endorsement. I had all my training in a Cessna 172 so the mooney was a little different than what I was used too. In my opinion the Mooney safety training is more important for getting to know your plane than to save a few dollars on insurance. I now have 135 hrs and my policy was $1300.00 this year. Their is a guy in Clearwater Florida that will come to you for Mooney Training. His name is Mike Elliot 317-371-4164. He comes highly recommended. I flew a few hours with him this past spring and he was great. Good Luck
  12. PTK, You speak my language! Yes I poured the coal to her and cleaned up the flaps. Thanks, Mitch
  13. No flat spots on the tires because when I came back around for my second landing and landed there was no vibration at all. I checked the tires and landing gear once back in the hanger and they were okay. The vibration was only immediately after the hard bounce and only until I hit the brakes and retracted the gear and did not Vibrate after that.
  14. Hello, I have a 1965 M20E Super 21 with a manual landing gear and manual flaps. I came in for a landing today and it wasn't quiet set up just perfect and I bounced one time fairly hard. As soon as The tires bounced off the runway the plane got a real bad vibration. I gave it full throttle released the flaps hit the brakes and retracted the landing gear and the vibration immediately stoped. I flew the pattern landed and everything was perfect. I took it back to the hanger checked everything and everything looked great. Does anybody know what that vibration could've been? Is it possible that the tire flattened a little bit when I hit the runway and that was what the vibration was until I hit the brakes and stop the wheel from turning? Thanks, Mitch
  15. Nick, My 1965 E model had its annual last week. I participated in the whole thing. They used those holes to stick a long rod inside to spray anti corrosion. Thanks Mitch
  16. I had the exact same issue a couple months ago. It was an easy fix. Aircraft spruce stocks the caliper o-ring (part # MS 28775-326). Drain the fluid pull the caliper off but no need to disconnect the brake line. Remove the pads. If the pads are bad i can give the part # for them too. Pull the piston out of the caliper. Remove the o-ring from the piston clean it with break parts cleaner and install the new o-ring. Clean the caliper cylinder and sand with fine sand paper if needed. The cylinder bore is shallow so it's hard to use a hone. Lubricate with fluid and push the Piston back into the cylinder with a c clamp and reassemble. Now bleeding the breaks is easy. A guy named Steve explained it to me on this site and it worked great. Get a old style metal manual pump oil can. Like the tin man on the wizard of oz used. Get a small clear hose that you can put over the nozzle on the oil can and the bleeder on the caliper. Remove the cap on the brake resivor. Then fill the can with the correct brake fluid and pump the fluid in from the bottom up. It's work perfect and I didn't even have to bleed the brakes after. I was done in less than an hour and including new break linings i spent less than a $100 bucks. Of course you need a A&P to sign off. Good luck. Mitch
  17. www.airplaneplastics.com sells new plastic covers for your airplane. They are inexpensive and work well. They usually ship within 2 days of order. It will make your panel look great for a few hundred dollars. Mitch
  18. Bobby, Thanks for the info. How expesive was it to rebuild the system and get it working again? Thanks, Mitch
  19. Does anyone know how much useful load I would gain if I have the positive control system on my 1965 M20E Super 21 removed. It has been disconnected as long as I have owned the plane but is still a complete system. I am also interested to know if there is any benefit to having it reconnected. Thanks Mitch
  20. Steve65E-NC, Thank you so much for the accurate information. I ordered the linings and O-rings for the calipers from Aircraft Spruce with the numbers you posted. They were exact matches. Had them installed and bled the brakes and everything works great. Thanks again, Mitch
  21. The brake linings? Are they 3 rivets? If so, I will take them. Call me 239-825-7818 Thanks, Mitch
  22. Hello, Does anyone have any suggestions how I can tell what brakes my 1965 M20E Super 21 has. I normally order everything from LASAR but they are closed until January 2nd. I would like to order from Aircraft Spruce but they are asking brake system type (example-Clevland brakes). I need linings, rivits, and caliper O-rings-rebuild kits. I would like to order the parts on 12/23/13. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mitch
