  1. I may well be completely wrong on this or not have read closely enough, but if you have the throttle off during priming, no fuel is getting to the engine. I have experienced similar starting problems when I shortly realized to myself..."you idiot, you have the throttle off."
  2. I have an F with manual gear, useful load is 1050. If you plan to have 4 adults in the plane, I posit that you will regret not getting at least an F. I was looking for a high useful load. For insurance, I managed to get a 10 hour dual restriction, which was far better than any AOPA deals.
  3. The gentleman in Kendallville came highly recommended. I did request a quote from them.
  4. I don't guess there's realistically anyway to look inside without taking them apart. I have one Mooney part that I know you don't want...a generator. Did you the see guy selling a 7000 for $900 bucks, I thought that seemed pretty cheap, but I just looked on aircraftspruce and they've got them brand new for $1395 apparently.
  5. I think he said that it was an option, not a requirement.
  6. You're dead right on the inspection panel, it is a flat piece of metal, with a slight lip. These are under-wing panels I'm looking for.
  7. Ok I was working up a post for this in my head: S-dog, first of all why weren't you on our site years ago? You built some of our planes! You should be an absolutely invaluable resource! Not to mention.........you could have also thrown out of shameless self-promotion, probably garnered some business. I'm not getting into to bashing this and that, you were upset, it's all good we all get upset. Get your head around it and give us the objective view of what happened, lay out some details for us.
  8. Is the Fundies some kind of spin-off of the Brady Bunch?
  9. I didn't really want it to post the video, just the link sorry...
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywNYoAgLzm4 Take it how you will, like anything else out there.
  11. Upward mobility does exist, you could argue that it doesn't, but you would be wrong. NOW, I would gladly support your point that upward mobility in America is vastly oversold, approaching religion status. I don't believe it's some conspiracy to give middle class people hope, but America has always been a large oligarchy, the dreams of upward mobility "stimulate the masses and create a productive society."
  12. Also, this would be a lot more fun in the chatroom
  13. Let us not forget that the beauty of our country is our ability to think freely and express our opinions in any venue we see fit. This thread right here is the beautiful essence of the origin of our country. Hopefully everyone can remember that it's ok and even expected to have different opinions and when it's time to eat, pass me the queso.
  14. I pity the fool who thinks education changes the decision making process of the majority of individuals. This is well researched and documented by behavioral economists, of which some links I would gladly provide. A very interesting topic here is retirement savings...should be common sense no? Education should rectify the problem...however it doesn't. That's a fact not an opinion.
  15. I'd gladly argue that the Fed has backed themselves into a corner with the rate raising. Credibility affects their ability to manipulate the long end of the curve. As well as the fact that despite everyone's cynicism, the Fed has for the most part continued to be pleased with the economic data.
  16. 67, I believe I've seen one of mine and they are just flat pieces of metal.
  17. The ones for under the wing, prior to this post I was assuming, now I am asking, are they all the same size?
  18. A few of you may have noticed in the wanted ads that I am looking for a few parts so at long last I am posting a useful update to this thread--and dare I say it nearly feeling good about my prospects for being back in the air very soon. The plane is now in what I believe to be capable and trustworthy hands for an annual and to repair these discrepancies. At least in my book, he has already made some terrific progress, and I've been overly impressed with his zeal for this task.
  19. If anyone two or I guess even one inspection panel, let me know. Also if anyone has a step fairing, or the specs to fab one please let me know. Color doesn't matter on either case.
  20. Sounds promising, the upside is that it would only have to be shipped to Seymour, IN. Do you know anything about the status of corrosion on this inside of it?
  21. Haha, me too. Not sure exactly what made it click, just the general idea of getting the newer more scalable device. I had just read some reviews a while back that the 796 was a terrific idea and somewhat bungled in the execution of it. Probably also opportunity. I did finally look at the physical specs of them, that may have contributed a bit. I almost bought a 696 last week on ebay, but ultimately just made someone else pay what I wasn't willing to.
  22. There are I think 7 pictures of the elevator in question in my gallery.
  23. Checking on barnstormers now. Edit: Barnstormers email sent.
  24. I need an elevator, a white one would be nice. If you have an elevator message me, I honestly don't care what color it is. The elevators are smooth and not ribbed. I think the left and right elevators are identical on my plane just literally turned upside down and mounted. Please correct me if I am wrong, because I have no practical knowledge of the situation.
  25. At first blush it would seem like if you have to pay the going rate for any of the old stuff, might as well pony up for the new. This rabbit hole was dug because of the $6100 530W currently on ebay. Which parts-wise is nearing a 50% discount to the new stuff.
