  1. So I guess the answer to my questions is that no one has asked politely and without any attitude that their rights be respected by postponing the ramp inspection and not allowing them to enter your airplane. i find that VERY interesting. We're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but only guilty people refuse to take a lie detector test for speak with the police without an attorney present. After all, why do we need our rights protected. Big brother is our friend. Yeah, and I've got some land in S. Florida I'll sell you. Americans are giving their rights away. Soon, we won't have any rights. Sorry for the rave.
  2. Most government types know you are intimidated by them. And, just like everyone knows that you should NEVER speak to the police without having your attorney present, most people go ahead and do it out of fear for the consequences if the don't. i. e. being bullied around. That's why I am asking the question...has anyone on this forum told the ramp check inspector that he was in a hurry and didn't want to do the ramp check at that time. Also, has anyone in a private airplane ever denied the inspector intrance to the interior of their airplane. After all, this is our right. Has anyone here exercised that right? Thanks.
  3. After Don Maxwell checked out the C, I didn't buy it. I have purchased a B now.
  4. It sounds like the perfect size to laminate. i.e. 10x3.5 I do very much appreciate what you say. I too have always found that the preprinted checklists leave out some things I consider very import. For instance, I ALWAYS pull my prop through all cylinders and open my engine for a good preflight. But, now that I have bought my first Mooney (M20B), I am learning that opening the engine up each time is not an option. All that being said, I would appreciate you pm ing me copies of your 4 pages if you would be so kind to share. Thanks.
  5. Not having any luck finding a laminated quick checklist similar to the Checkmate laminated ones. Can anyone email be one that i can print and laminate?
  6. The article clearly said that if you were rushed to get somewhere that you could tell them you didn't have time for them at that moment and they would be agreeable to coming back later. Has anyone ever done this? Seems like a risky approach at best. Besides that, he also said that you didn't have to produce logbooks nor BFR, etc. info. I think reg says you have the right to tell them to make an appointment for them to review those docs. Has anyone ever tested this approach?
  7. Thanks to referrals from this forum, I decided to trust Don Maxwell for the best solution. What a GREAT decision that was. i still can't believe his professionalism and at a really great price. He promises a fuel leak repair (not a total stripping and reseal) for $650.00. I can't rave enough about him. Prebuys for $900 coupled with an annual for only $950 additional. Every time I recommend him, I marvel in the quality and cost of his work. And, a really GREAT guy in addition,. What more could any of us want, eh?
  8. This kind of stringent enforcement of laws and regulations accompanied with government non-performance that makes compliance impossible without heroic and expensive efforts is what has prompted so many people to "exit" the system, go underground, not pay taxes and in the extreme, stress out so much that they can't cope with life and then walk into a theatre filled with people and randomly murder countless dozens! Whew! That really saddens me. But, as i always tell the wife, "The best revenge is living well!" And, I think that generally, across the board, that Mooney owners live well. Am i wrong? lol Sorry for the rave!
  9. And, just imagine, they'll run our health care system just as efficiently!
  10. Well, you've certainly given me food for thought. Thanks for sharing your perspective.
  11. Wow! You guys scare me. Years ago when i started flying I read "Fly The Engine" by Kas Thomas. He brain washed me into enjoy a good thorough (even to the point of pulling the prop thru all 4 by hand and "feeling the compression on each cylinder) so that i enjoy a good thorough "decowled" engine preflight as much as I enjoy the xcountry flight planning. I just purchased my M20B and am taking delivery on June 3rd. I just can't imagine taking off in an airplane on a 2000 mile trip and not "looking under the hood" to confirm nothing is loose or leaking!!!!! Wow! i've got a lot to learn after 6000+ hours behind the yoke! I must say I feel intimidated!
  12. Only one oil analysis per year! How about one every 25-50 hours? Seriously. That comes as a total surprize. Are you saying that there will be no significant change in 25-50 hours? You figure an annual total hours of around 100 for the average Mooney?
  13. That being said, if I elect to monitor oil between oil changes, it seems that consistency in the way and the location that the sample is obtained is the most important factor as well as avoiding contamination of the sample. i.e. dipstick. Or, is there some other way to get a sample between changes without draining the sump..
  14. I have always thought that the best way to do oil analysis was by cutting the filter in half (if you have one) and sending it off. Several people on this forum have made reference to Blakstone labs being a good oil testing lab. When I go onto their website, they suggest that you take your oil sampler from the dip stick. I would like to have this forum's comments on the reliability of the test results by taking the sample this way.
  15. Now that is an answer I had been hoping for. KISS right! Thanks for tuning me in to the easy solution.
  16. Do you have any suffestions on how best to access the part number on the starter without pulling the front cowling off?
  17. Interesting observation. Always look for the obvious first, eh!
  18. Well that's good news. So how do I do it without removing the starter? Share please! lol
  19. Very good article. Thanks for sharing.
  20. Since counting the teeth is not an option without removing the existing starter, maybe I can get the number off of the starter that is on it now and see if that starter is for 122 or 149 teeth ring gear. Any other ideas.
  21. I'm still wanting to buy 2 more sets in addition to the 2 N74795 sold me.
  22. See my problem? C and above 149. A 122. Chart says "?" Which is it?
  23. I sent you an email accepting your price and asking how you want to be paid. Thanks.
  24. I'm still trying to find someone that can email me a copy of an 1961 M20B Parts Manual. Please help.
  25. I want to change my starter to a Skytech, but need to know the number of teeth on the ring gear to order the correct one. Mooney says it is "54?" which means nothing to me. The choices are eighter 122 or 149. Does anyone know which is correct?
