I have one and it does do the job, but I think I would spend the extra money and go with something more modern, a JPI 830 or if you dont want to spend that much an EI G2 or G3. They display much more data, data downloads are easier and they have ther own diagnostic systems if some goes wrong.

I have one as well (installed by previous owner) and I've been having trouble with the downloads for the last few months. Download starts okay but the program freezes after about a minute. I've tried re-downloading the software on two different laptops and next I'm going to try some different cables. If that doesn't do the trick I'll have to send in the data recorder (Mux-8a, separate unit) in for a check. If I were in the market I'd probably go for something a little more modern (self contained unit, USB connection) but it is okay for the cost and performs well in flight.

Lamont, I'm working on a standalone device to download the data onto an SD card--check out my thread in the misc. aviation forum if you're interested.
