bnicolette Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I tried to install a Concorde battery a couple weeks ago but when I did, my ammeter was going nuts. It would bounce back and forth from one side of "0" to the other. I thought that maybe I had a bad voltage regulator or a bad battery. I put the old Gill back in and the problem was gone. I contacted Concorde about the issue and they explained they have seen this before with their batteries. There is going to be an article coming out about it in Light Plane Maintenance. The gentleman from Concorde sent me this upcoming article. See attached. Oops, it won't let me attach a file yet. I will try again later.
Bolter Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 I just put a Concorde in to replace my 5 year old Gill. I had no problems like this, though it may be relevant that I replaced the regulator with the modern Zeftronics unit. Can you give a few highlights of the article? Is it possible that I will see this behavior in the near future, or is it "all or none" and I am in the clear? If it happens, is it a real problem requiring immediate action? -dan
bnicolette Posted September 6, 2012 Author Report Posted September 6, 2012 If you have the Zeftronics regulator you won't have any issues. I will attach the article when attachments are enabled.
bnicolette Posted November 29, 2012 Author Report Posted November 29, 2012 Sorry for the delay but attached is the article that talks about this topic. Concord Battery.pdf
bnicolette Posted November 29, 2012 Author Report Posted November 29, 2012 I already got my Zeftronics but came across this one on ebay. Good price considering Spruce sells them for $253 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zeftronics-Aircraft-Voltage-Regulator-Part-R15300-/110958090268
