The other day a fellow pilot informed me after I landed that I was hard to understand in the pattern. Well long story short, my halo headset has a feedback problem. No issue on intercomm or rcving but the moment I press the txmit button I get a steady audible tone that resembles feedback. It stays audible while I txmit. My D&C headset has no such issue. The only difference between the mic plugs is the Halo has a flat tip while the d&c has a pointed tip. I don't know if that may make a difference. Anyone else ever run into this problem?

I have three Halo headsets and have never had that problem in two different airplanes.  Have you contacted Phil directly?  If you call the phone number from the website, (601) 316-7160, he is usually the person that answers the phone.  You might try him tomorrow.

I had the same problem with the Telex headsets when using the HF radio but not with the VHF COM. Some headsets have no shielded cables and are more susceptible to RF feedback when you transmit. Check on the antenna cables to insure the shields are properly grounded.

You probably have an older mic style. Upgraded versions are not susceptible to feedback.  Old mics have an "L" shaped mic housing that is very glossy with one large hole you peakin and a smaller single hole on the other.  The newer mic has a buffed matte finish on the symmetrical plastic cases with on 6 or so holes on one  side and one large hole on the other.  i don't charge for upgrades.  Gimme a call tomorrow.

Finaly got out to the plane this morning and checked about every setting I could think of between the headset, audio panel, and radio. Still get an audible feedback tone upon keying he radio. It does go away after I start speaking but is not there with any other headset. I'll be calling you, Phil, tomorrow. Still love the headset regardless of the issues I am having.
