Zippy_Bird
Ebay is your friend in this department. There are servos there to be had.Hi @McMooney, Used Servos can be had on eBay but my experience has been mixed. I’ve bought some excellent ones with supple rubber, clean, and perfect function. I’ve also paid good money for dogs… dry, dirty, leaking, useless. I’ve found that if the listing does not specifically state “excellent condition” beware. It is also my opinion that if a pilot is selling they are usually in good shape, but if a scraper is selling, rubbish.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Zippy_Bird
I heard a rumor, a whisper on the wind, that someone found a replacement for these servo rubber boots. I have no proof of this, but I’d like to know if it is true and what. I have some useless servo cans sitting around. Mind you this would be for tinkering entertainment only and nothing that would ever go in a certified airplane. Would appreciate a PM if you know something! Thanks, ZSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you currently need one?
Echo
At risk of triggering the marketing and sales departments of the "electric replacement" folks...It would be nice if a pretty low exposure (for failure of product...as step just stays down) step rubbeer membrane replacement was completed. I will add that to the "whisper on the wind"...from a guy that likes the simplicity of the vacuum step. Cue responses (already hashed and rehashed elsewhere) that ultimately gain financial benefit. Less sure about the shuttle valves and associated roll trim mechanism inside that device, though my guess is it's not complicated machinery. Our Brittain TC requires nearly full right roll trim for the wings to actually stay level, and we've contemplated "doing something" about that for a long time. We've verified rigging (airplane stays wings level in in still air with balanced fuel tanks and PC disabled), and we've also verified good vacuum hold on both the "left" and "right" tubing systems that connect to the TC, via a test rig. So the off-center problem has got to be in the TC itself. Haven't done anything about it because it's not really a serious issue. But the TC hasn't been out of the panel in at least 30 years (per notes from prior owner) and nothing lasts forever. Good to know there is, at least at the moment, a specialty shop that deals in these things. I have an issue with mine too. Please keep us informed if you do make contact with Kevin regarding overhaul of TC. Mine sat for so long the small rack and pinion mechanism corroded and broke. It's really tiny. I now can adjust it with a rod, but that is inconvenient and not real precise. I need a new rack and pinion set up on mine. Dirk

Also, Kevin sometimes visits here. @Kevin Westbrook
Zippy_Bird
Hi All, sorry for the late reply. Been away from MooneySpace for too long.Kevin Westbrook is still going strong and earlier this year rebuilt, tested, and 8130’d a number of Brittain PC parts through Porter-Straight for me. These included a pilot control value, a servo control valve, a brittain basic PC gyro, a B-11 accutrack, and a B-12 accuflight. Cecilia at Brittain sent across the STCs for my bird at no cost! Can’t beat that. Also have a spare TC I considered sending over for rebuild, quoted $850 at the time, but my setup doesn’t need one. Highly recommend contacting Kevin and sending your brittain parts over for rebuild while you can!Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
