bcg Posted September 30, 2023 Report Posted September 30, 2023 While pulling everything out for some avionics work, I've found this mystery light on the left side behind the panel. The wires running to it look like it was installed at the factory. Does anyone know what it's for? I don't have a vacuum pump so it's possible it could be a low vacuum warning light that was relocated when the pump was removed. I'd like to pull it out if I can, I just need to know why it was put there to begin with. The plane is a 1963 C, manual gear and hydraulic flaps. Quote

bcg Posted September 30, 2023 Author Report Posted September 30, 2023 That light shines down to illuminate the fuel valve.I guess I should leave it if that's the case. Looks like it's been burned out for a while. I don't fly at night though, so I don't know if it's ever worked since I've had the plane.Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk That light is the typical twist/adjustable iris type… (like the gear lights) It typically comes on with the cabin lights. Most get twisted closed and forgotten about. You will remember it on a night flight while looking for the fuel valve… Especially if you need the pvc valve handle to reach it. Trying to find the light in the dark has a similar challenge…. So leave it shining, a little bit. Best regards, -a- Quote

It's easy to find by feel so I would never need a light to look for it anyway. I have to crawl under the nose and manually sump the collator up front, it's kind of a pain. Quote
