garmin pilot database transfer to garmin GPS 175

from what I am seeing: A garmin pilot "Standard Plan" includes IFR charts and high/low maps.                                                                                                         does anyone know if you can send the database to your GPS 175 via Bluetooth or wi-fi and if so how its done?

I am using Foreflight now and it (garmin) won't let me transfer the IFR database.

For your GPS175 you need a separate subscription from Garmin.  If you just got the 175, check with your Avionics Shop to make sure they didn't set up an account for you.  If not, make sure you have the System ID (and prob. the Serial#) and go to https://fly.garmin.com/ to set up an account.

Follow the prompts to Add Device and be sure to add ALL of your devices if you have any GI275s or whatever.  When you're all done, one of the options is to Buy Database.  If you do have more than one device, be sure to look at the Bundle option as it is the most cost effective.

If you fly VFR ONLY, you could probably buy a DB once a year (thought there's not a lot of savings.)  If you fly IFR, there's really no option.  It's not just a question of what the FAA will say, it's in the Garmin Documentation that the DB must be current.  So then you get into an area where you're probably not covered by insurance, even if whatever happens isn't your fault.  So it's not worth it not to get the DB Subscription.

Once everything is set, you're going to need to download Garmin Aviation Database Manager, that's what Garmin uses now to update the SD Card to do the updates.  (Or you can do it through Pilot, but I hear it takes a lot longer and is unreliable for some.)

I have a OnePak for my 2 GI275's and my GNS 430W.

Transferring database is not native to Garmin devices.  You need an FS210 (installed unit) or FS510 (special SD card) to use Database Concierge to transfer database updates.

Otherwise, you have to write the update to an SD card and stick it in your device.
