I confirmed with Garmin that there is no way to permanently disable the G3X Touch G meter. You can turn it off, but the next time you power up the G3X it will revert to Auto which replaces the HSI with a G meter if you exceed 2.1g or -0.5g, You can touch the meter to get the HSI back.
