PT20J Posted February 2, 2022 Report Posted February 2, 2022 After installing v9.00, I am sometimes getting purple bands across the map (single G3X 10" split screen). Zooming in and out changes the pattern but doesn't make them go away. Switching to the chart screen (which renders normally) and back doesn't correct it. The only thing that gets rid of the purple is cycling power on the G3X. I'm waiting for a response from Garmin support. Has anyone else seen this? Skip Quote
alexz Posted February 2, 2022 Report Posted February 2, 2022 Sounds like a defect in either graphical processing unit of the circuitry or LCD driver. I had white streaks on LCD occasionally was fixed by display unit replacement. V9 is more demanding on CPU/GPU side. Quote
PT20J Posted February 4, 2022 Author Report Posted February 4, 2022 After talking with Garmin, they pointed out that the purple is used to denote areas where there is missing or incomplete NEXRAD data. This comes to the G3X via the GTN. However, they could not explain why I got the venetian blind effect, why I never saw it before upgrading from v20.20 to 20.23 or why it went away and didn't come back when I cycled power. I'm betting something was changed in 20.23 that introduced some anomaly. Skip Quote
