21D M20J Posted December 28, 2021 Report Posted December 28, 2021 I am wondering if it is possible to use the existing servos from our Century2000 autopilot, if we upgrade to the G500? We are planning to do a complete Garmin panel upgrade sometime in the next year, and just starting to plan.

Today's servos have microprocessors in them and the autopilot relies on constant communication with the servos. Only the servos that are in the Garmin STC will work. 2 1

carusoam Posted December 30, 2021 Report Posted December 30, 2021 With some APs… you may be lucky to use the old servos when updating to the same manufacturer’s new autopilot… Chances are… you may prefer new servos as well… from a performance and reliability viewpoint… Battling worn and old servos isn’t an easy thing to accomplish… unless you share the field with a really good AP shop… And OH costs for servos isn’t very favorable either… Best regards, -a- 1
