Huitt3106 Posted February 11, 2020 Report Posted February 11, 2020 (edited) I have recently had some issues with my Oil temp gauge (Part# 169D-910-11). I sent it off to Rudy Aircraft instruments in Arkansas and they said it has a flat spot on the pivot and there are not parts available. So the gauge is dead. I'm wondering if anyone has any creative ideas on a replacement until I have the funds available for a full engine monitor? I know there are some TSO'd oil temp gauges on the market (~$500) but panel space is an issue for me. I'm hoping to be able to afford an engine monitor in the near future (within a year or so) but am currently on a job hunt (moving away from self employment) so I don't want to eat too much into my savings to do something like that right now. Anybody have any of these gauges left over from a recent upgrade by random chance? Edited February 11, 2020 by Huitt3106 Quote
orionflt Posted February 11, 2020 Report Posted February 11, 2020 if you still had the original 6 pack installed I could help you with parts, but since you upgraded mine will not work. the good news is you should be able to find new and overhauled gauges PMA'd for that cluster. I do not currently have a source for you but when i get a few minutes I will try to find one. Brian Quote
orionflt Posted February 11, 2020 Report Posted February 11, 2020 (edited) airparts of lockhaven may have the parts to do the repair http://www.airpartsoflockhaven.com/. I have had them fix gauges that no one else would touch. I also know Mitchell had some replacement gauges, but i do not know if the were a direct replacement for the individual gauge, or if it was a cluster replacement. I'm sending them a link to a picture of the gauge to see if they have any options. I'd really like to just put in the CGR-30 premium combo and be done with the old gauges but can't just yet. Quote

I have the MVP-50, I love it. I recommend the CGR-30 because there is little to no panel mods needed. Quote

I can buy the combo package and just take out my current MP/ FP and RPM gauges and the CGR-30 will fit right in place. Quote
Huitt3106 Posted February 11, 2020 Author Report Posted February 11, 2020 I have found a used part on ebay that is guaranteed to work or I can get my money back supposedly. Outside of my A&P ensuring the gauge functions properly and makes a logbook entry is there any other paperwork needed for this since its the same part#? Quote

Keystone instruments of lock Haven does repairs on these. I have a feeling that airparts of lock Haven sends these next-door to these guys to do the actual work. Quote
