bnicolette Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Does anybody have any insight on this airplane and why the price would only be 52K? http://barnstormers.com/cat.php?mode=search Quote
N9937c Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 If you're talking about the 231 on barnstormers, I saw it geared up at the end of last year. Do you think this guy living in close proximity with the guy that caused the big stink mooney thread ( IT"S BACK ) might be selling for a FRIEND??????? Rest assured it has new paint and a lot of WOW factor. Engine Probably not torn down. Was not a minor strike!. The picture of the panel shows the prop damaged. Worst of all No Garmin 430/530. So many people think an airplane won't fly without one. LOL larry Quote
Shadrach Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Middlesboro KY to Johnson City TN is only 30 mins via Mooney. I would not be surprised in the least if Jerry was the friend. What kind of idiot would post a pic with a chewed up prop tip without mentioning it? http://barnstormers.com/listing_images.php?id=558210&ZOOM=bd8770d6c573b6eefc5f83e0c555c71b Quote
N9937c Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Can't be too far. Same area code. Also the BIG STINK Mooney has been pulled from EBAY. larry Quote
FlyDave Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 As I posted on the "M20J w/AP..." thread: A quick internet search on the N# of the airplane revealed the following: http://www.aigaviation.com/aviationsalvage/salvagedetail.aspx?faano=N231MK Notice that the times on the Barnstormers ad are no higher than the salvage numbers. I wonder if it's been flown since the "gear up". Unless strictly for transport, I'm not sure why they would completely disassemble the airplace for a "minor damage" incident. Definately warrants further investigation. Quote
Shadrach Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Still there for now... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ULTIMATE-MOOONEY-HAS-ALL-/270761911215?pt=Motors_Aircraft&hash=item3f0aaae3af#ht_2991wt_1167 Quote
74657 Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 At least this one wasn't a U-boat..... If the gear-up was repaired properly that is a non-issue. Check the logs and see who did the repair work. Call the maintenance facility and ask questions. I do agree that something is suspect here though. I wonder why the plane was not fixed after a gear up? Perhaps the owner had the hull insured for peanuts to keep the costs down? I know the auction ended on 5/13 and there is NO WAY that all of the repair work could be done already. It takes at least a month to send all of the engine parts out, get them checked, sent back and re-assembled. Quote
