mooneygirl
I thought I would let you know of a possible event in Indianapolis in May. The Indianapolis Air Show is one of the largest in the United States and will be held over three days: May 13,14, 15. Doug and Janet Cross are the air show static coordinators. I spoke with Doug and he is forwarding a recommendation to the executive committee that the Ambassadors be able to display 3-4 aircraft. There are some limitations to the show that all attendees must be okay with.Arrivals are Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. Due to the size of the show, the aircraft must remain in place until show end on Sunday afternoon.According to Doug, attendance will be between 140,000-150,000. This is ten times larger than the largest show we have ever attended. [Lake in the Sky, South Lake Tahoe, CA 15,000] If approved we would be looking for two things: first off some folks who can display their aircraft for the three day event; and secondly perhaps some folks who can come and support the display without flying their aircraft in. Although we have the recommendation from Doug, it is not a done deal. We should know within the next two weeks. Please let me know if you might be interested. We would receive free admission to the event and there are special rates at the hotels in the area for airshow participants. The identifier is KMQJ-Mt. Comfort, but the name of the airport is changing to Indianapolis Regional in the next few weeks. jelswick
Can't wait! Thank you for driving this Jolie and let's hope they come back with a go for us. If we get that, this will be a great event and a great opportunity to promote GA and Mooney in an area easy for us in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia or even a little further away to participate. Good talking to you Jolie today and anyone interested in going or helping, please let us know. I had to think about the three day commitment unable to move the aircraft, but that's only one day off work for those of us working weekdays and what better way to spend a three day weekend than with our Mooneys and a great airshow! mooneygirl
Thanks for taking point on this one Jim. We have one other Mooney interested, but if it is a "go" we will need more. What a wonderful weekend it would be!
mooneygirl
Hello there! We received the final approval from the Indianapolis Airshow. We have been approved for four airplanes. jelswick
I'm in! Thanks Jolie and I'll be glad to help as the coordinator for this one. This is a great air show and would like to see us have all four slots filled. I'm ordering the Mooney garage banner for this and if we can find someone that can provide a shade tent for the display, that will be very helpful. 201driver
Sounds like fun. Count me in. I can provide the shade tent. Looking forward to it!
mooneygirl
Hi All It looks like we have 2 or 3 of the 4 needed for Indy. We also need ground support. If you would like to attend the show, but not display your airplane, but help out doing the Ambassador thing, please register on the website. http://mooneyambassadors.com/20815.html Thanks to Jim for being the point person. We will have a write up in the official program, so that is super cool. Go Mooney!
jelswick
Thank you Jolie. Will you be sending them something with photos for the writeup or is that something I should try to provide? I'm fine with either way. And glad to hear you'll be joining the event 201 Driver. Do you have an email address I can use to coordinate with those of us that will be participating? You can send that via PM if you like. Can we find two more that can do this Fri-Sun event? It is a huge air show and should be a great opportunity for us to promote GA and Mooney! Hank
I'd love to go, it's close and looks like LOTS of fun, but two pilots here are getting married that Saturday . . .
jelswick
Would you be one of those two pilots getting married that weekend Hank? If so, perhaps she'd like to take her vows at the Indy Air Show? Kidding, and sorry you won't be there. You're very close, so l look forward to meeting and working with you on one of these in the future. Any others out there that would be interested in displaying your aircraft as one of four slots or supporting this ambassador event at the booth May 13-15th at the Indianapolis Air Show? flight2000
My day is coming when I'll be able to support these events (I would have been at this one for sure). Right now, I'm stuck waiting for July to get here so I can come home again... sigh!! Only 4 more months. May the weather Gods be kind to you that weekend. jelswick
I was thinking of that with the weather Gods myself today Brian. Thanks, stay safe and look forward to when you're back here to do these!
jelswick
Posting again on the weekend thinking some may have missed the weekday posts to see if we have any midwest Mooney owners that would like to participate in the Indianapolis Air Show May 13-15th. We have four display slots for our Mooneys with two of those still open. It will be a great air show with 140,000-150,000 attendees expected. Also welcome anyone that can help with staffing the Mooney Ambassador booth without their aircraft on display. If interested, please let me know. jelswick
Eddie, I saw you'd signed up on the site and got your voice mail. Reposting the Mooney Ambassador post for the Indy Air Show so that you can find it. Hope you're able to make it. If so, that would leave one more slot open. Any others interested in the May 13th-15th Ambassador event at the Indy Air Show as display aircraft or helping out with the booth?

jelswick
Just need one more participant for our Ambassador event at the Indy Air Show May 13-15. Do we have anyone else in the OH, MI, IN, WI, KY, TN, WV, PA or other nearby states that would like to come spend Fri-Sun with our Mooneys at a great airshow? As Jolie mentioned, we'll have passes at the air show and they have very good discounted rates on the hotels. We have to get them a final answer on number of participants and hotel rooms needed asap. If interested, please let me know via PM so I don't miss the post or call me at 614-395-3708. Thank you.
