Brown stain on top of fuel flow divider and idle speed.

Recommended Posts

Plane is in for annual and we noticed a brown stain which appears to have come out the vent hole at the center of the fuel flow divider.  Is this an indication that the diaphragm in the divider is shot and needs to  be replaced ?  I took a picture with my phone buy Verizon will not let me transfer it to coputer w/o their $$ software and feature. I'll take a pic on Monday with my camera and post.

Also,  idle speed is too high and the screw is all the way out.   We're looking for induction leaks.. Anything else cause high idle speed ?

Bill

8/22  got the picture.. mechanic thinks it's old leak given color and just never cleaned.  Does not appear to be fresh.

The flow divider has a screw that holds the diaphragm to the valve shaft. If that screw came loose it could leak out the vent hole. Or you could have a hole in your diaphragm.

If the throttle is closing all the way on the RSA-5 and it still idles too fast you must have an induction leak. Don't forget to check the sump drain valve it may be stuck open.
