triple8s Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I guess I'm showing my ignorance but why do we not see Mooneys with de-ice boots like on some beech products?
MB65E Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Single engine Beech products? I thought only their Twins had them? I would think its due to the limitations of the pneumatic system. The pressure pumps take a lot of real estate to plumb. The power requirements to run the system might be more than a single engine could produce off a belted or pad mounted accessory. The twins have 2x extra spots to mount engine driven accessories. The Heated wing like on the Columbia 400/Cessna 400 would be slick. It requires a 100a alternator, but the system works great! Lancair did a crap load of testing on their Evolution turboprop. The heated element was less drag and weight than the boots. That's my guess... -Matt
Steve Dawson Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I believe they're only available on Beech's Bonanza A and B 36's but also on other singles like the Piper Saratoga's and Cessna 210's. I'm guessing that the Moony leading edge wouldn't work because it's more of a laminar flow
