1964-M20E Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Matt Congratulations I looked ta that plane back in October 2012 but my current F model won the competition for the same price more mods and more space. Enjoy flying the plane. Quote
Matt Michael Posted January 22, 2014 Author Report Posted January 22, 2014 Had my first trip as PIC today when I flew back after delivering my CFI and ferry pilot home to Wichita. I was pretty saturated but managed to not screw anything up and WOW, what performance! I love the handling and find that it's an easy plane to land. The engine runs great with very wall balanced EGTs. Trip home was down low at 3500 for tailwind. With 23 inches, 2450 rpm, I was showing 130kts IAS burning 7.6 gph. On the trip to Wichita we ran at 8000 and about 8.5 gph doing more like 150kts. The EGTs are within 30 degrees, sometimes 20 at 75 LOP. It will continue to run smooth down to 100 LOP sometimes. This is all much better than I could have hoped for. I'm very very pleased, relieved, and worn out from several days of training. Still have a lot to learn but WOW, what a great machine! 3 Quote
tonycondon Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Matt asked me to chime in here. I had a LOT of fun flying his Mooney and am very grateful that he let me use it as my own for nearly a week. Before this experience I had about 2 hrs in Mooneys, spread out over at least 5 years, one in an F and one in a J. Now I have nearly 25. Matt got a really clean and well maintained airplane. Every little detail on it just works the way it is supposed to. I was impressed and pleased that it seemed to get book speed while sipping fuel. checking him out in it was fun and a good experience for both of us as we immersed ourselves in all things Mooney for about 2.5 days. 2 Quote

I did know that, Tony, and been following along loosely with your exploits as a trophy husband. Are you a CFII by chance? If so, once I get my engine back on the Mooney I might holler at you for an IPC if you're interested. I'd love to venture into the sailplane world sometime soon too. BTW, we have plenty of dishes and laundry at my house if you feel like being a maid too. Quote
Matt Michael Posted January 31, 2014 Author Report Posted January 31, 2014 I can vouch for Tony being a very good instructor in the Mooney and yes he is an instrument instructor as well. Can't say much about his ability to do laundry and dishes however 1 Quote
