johnmaher Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 I own a 1980 M20J with manual cowl flaps. While my engine was in overhaul, I took the opportunity to have the motor mount checked out. Now the problem is that the manual is not sufficiently detailed to sort out the rerigging. Could someone take a picture of the cowl flap linkage at the motor mount (open and closed) and post them or email them to n3876h@gmail.com. Tks in advance Jack Quote
KSMooniac Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 I took these on Thursday...this is the open position only. Hope it helps. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 4 Quote
OR75 Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 Not sure pictures will really be helpful to put things back There are a few hoses that run in that area (fuel line, fuel drain and oil breatherI think). The key is to route and secure them so that when you close or open the cowl flaps, there is no interference. By simply pushing up / down the link to the flaps , you can see clearly how the "fork" or whatever it is called moves. You don't need to be in the cockpit to push/pull on the cowl flap knob. Zip ties and may be a few Adel clamps is all you need. Quote
jetdriven Posted October 7, 2013 Report Posted October 7, 2013 The Illustrated parts catalog shows how it goes together. The fuel pump drain and the firewall-to-pump fuel hose run against the firewall and aft of the torsion rod for the cowl flap linkage. Quote
johnmaher Posted October 7, 2013 Author Report Posted October 7, 2013 Thanks Mucho! I think they will help but I will let you know by Friday if it works out. Tks again! Quote
