  1. Today, I travelled 1.5 hours with my Mooney to the avionics shop to get the Aspen software unlock to display weather and traffic on the PFD. The software unlock was released by Aspen in December. The shop checked the wiring and finally found out that they have to disconnect the GTX345 connection to the Flightstream 210 to get the weather and traffic on the Aspen. Doing this, I would get rid of the traffic and weather on the Ipad and the Aera 660 and keep the Flightplan transfer function between Ipad and GTN750. The weather and traffic on the Ipad and Aera 660 may be restored by using the Bluetooth connection from the GTX345. But then I would lose the Flightplan transfer function. So I decided to fly again 1.5 hrs home without installing anything. I like the Flightsream data transfer functions very much and want to keep them. But I would also be able to see weather and traffic on the Aspen. One solution may be an upgrade to a Flightstream 510. But this is an expensive solution. Maybe somebody has the same issue and found a better solution. Stefan
  2. .. And this all started with me wanting to simply upgrade my EDM 800! .... Ok .. with help of the suggestions and comments here, I went a little nuts and went for the full Monty panel upgrade. I was thinking of going glass with my steam gauges, but I really like them, and their redundancy so I kept them all and added one that had been previously removed. So now I have my *PERFECT* panel for me! Lots of things are behind the panel, but here's what I had installed... (I swapped out my MX20. EDM 800, Ryan 9900BX active traffic, ADF.. kept my 430W) and added the following stuff since the before pic: GTN 750 Garmin GDL 88 ADSB Tranceiver Garmin GMA 35 Remote audio panel Flightstream 210 TI 102 USB charging ports DAC international GDC 31 roll steering adapter (Don Kaye talked me into this one.. love it) Guardian CO detector Avidyne TAS 620 Active traffic EDM 830 (in landscape! long story on a different thread) Avidyne AXP 340 1090 Transponder EJC turn coordinator Eagle systems AOA (Valkyrie HUD) Here's some before and after pics. Absolutely love the integration of my ipad though the flightstream that feeds nav data from my ipad to my GTN which cross fills my 430 and reverse also. Guardian CO already paid for itself in picking up an exhaust clamp that was beginning to leak nearing failure. And I could be imagining this, but I think now that I am fully ADSB compliant, the controllers seem to handle you a little better. I did my first long XC trip this weekend after installing the GDL88 and Flightstream 210 (naturally Garmin introduced a new solution just as my install was being completed, but that's another topic). I'm liking what I'm seeing. Weather is quite usable, nicely integrated with Foreflight both graphically and in the lookups for the airports. TIS-B traffic is fascinating, though, of course, incomplete. I found it useful on a couple occasions to track traffic I was given by Center. Bidirectional communication from the GNS-430W to the iPad for flight plans is marvelous. On the FIS-B side,I had to keep an eye on a line of showers associated with a stationary front today, and found the radar information more than adequate for strategic planning. There's certainly more information available than there was with the basic XM Weather subscription. One question I have I how long it takes an aircraft to register on TIS-B after it takes off. I can envision passing an airport with departing traffic and potentially not seeing it on TIS-B due to system lag. Does anyone know how long it takes for an aircraft to show up once it lifts off?
