Made our first of hopefully many trips in 1258X. Had to show my co-owner our new acquisition by flying her to see her mother on Mother’s Day. They both approve! Just snapped a quick shot this time, but much more media coverage to come!

Hello All, I am in the process of completing a PPI on a Mooney M20C in Washington state and live in Virginia. I know I could have likely found something I wanted more local but I was somewhat intrigued by the adventure of flying my new bird back across the country. I will be receiving transition training when I fly over there to complete the transaction and likely flying back solo. For those who have completed a trip across the county, especially navigating across the Rockies, what is something you learned that you think would be great to pass along? Is there anything you wouldn't typically think about on a long cross country that I should consider? Should I consider getting a portable O2 setup to catch some of the higher altitudes on my eastward movement and while crossing the mountains? I'm aware that the density altitudes will keep me from staying much about 12,500 but if the winds are favorable and I can get there I'd like to take advantage. I know that weather is always a factor in a trip like this and I'm not IFR rated, no need to dive into the challenges of that necessarily.

My wife and I enjoy snow skiing out west but haven't tried flying this long of a voyage in the Mooney. I wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts or apprehension on making these types of journeys and what reservations you guys may have? I have no experience flying in the higher elevations like Montana. What would be some things to consider and plan for regarding the plane itself and the mountains? I'm very conservative and would likely try it with light winds. The flight plan I quickly came up with gives 1800 ft clearance over the highest terrain and follows victor routes into KBZN. I will be instrument rated prior to this winter as well. Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Hi all, We're planning on taking the airplane, a 66' M20E, from Idaho to Cape Cod this June - me, my wife, our 6-month-old boy, and our small dog. My wife is also a pilot and up for the adventure. I've flown the airplane back to the east coast several times, though never with an infant. I could use any advice you might be willing to give. We're planning on taking a 2-3 days to do it and making the legs no longer than a few hours each. Some say flying with a baby is fine, others say you need to wait until they're older. I don't plan on flying higher than around 7,000 - 8,000 feet, so assuming he's not congested, I don't anticipate any issues. He's flow in airliners several times already. As far as noise, he's got my genes and has a large noggin, so will be wearing a small headset that seems to fit him comfortably. Are we crazy for even thinking about flying that much (16 hours) in a few days with a small child? Obviously, we're planning on doing some 'trial runs' before then to make sure we're all comfortable with the whole thing. Have you done anything like this before? If so, any advice you have would be appreciated.
