This may have been done before and if so, I’m sorry, but I’d like to put a “pinned” topic together listing those CFIs who are willing to do Mooney checkouts for potential new owners. Breakout the thread by geographic areas, refined by type, or some other easily logical and searchable way. I have been contacted to do training for folks from MooneyFlyer or somewhere but what is usually not known to the new owner is the insurance requirements for time in type.—one in my case needed a Bravo time instructor for instance and I have none. I got to thinking hell I don’t know anyone near them to refer them either. So they are searching in unfamiliar territory adding to the stress of taking delivery. I’d like to see something to ease the transition during an already difficult and stressful time by having a single place to find their Mooney CFI. UPDATE INITIAL LIST OF CFIs with the info I’ve been provided so far. I’ll be making a more user friendly version soon. This is just so folks don’t have to search the entire thread to find someone. If you want to be added please let me know and if you want to include more contact information please let me know that as well. I'm planning on getting info from Mooney Flyer to be included and make sure to not have duplicate entries. Mooney CFI_June21.xlsx

I'm scheduled to go test fly an F early in the afternoon of the 13th at the North Las Vegas airport (yes, it'll be hot... scheduling just worked out that way). I'd like to have a very Mooney-experienced CFI meet us there if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions? Bill Custer out of Reno, maybe? The next step would be a prebuy the week following; Any suggestions near Reno/Lake Tahoe? I do note that the closest MSC is in Vegas (Lone Mountain Aviation). Thanks!

A good friend of mine bought a '66E model Mooney to learn to fly in. He plans to move up the aviation ladder and will probably be looking at getting a twin after the private and do his instrument training in that airplane. I've flown with him the last three consecutive days and he's ready to solo; his new instructor will just need to verify that and do a lesson of pattern work and he'll solo, I'm sure. He also has a lot of the requirements already knocked out for the private so once he gets a good CFI lined up things should progress quickly. But I don't have the time to take him on as a student and flying up and back each day from Tucson to Chandler is time consuming. He's really busy at work but is willing to make the commitment to schedule lessons to complete this. For now, he just needs a good CFI that has good availability so he can finish his private. Anyone have recommendations at CHD ?
