  1. Thanks guys for the tips. I checked the 2 fuses near main battery, no joy. Will check floor gear light with multimeter. It appears that the cabin lights share the same connector as the sonalert in the roof - might be a clue ?
  2. Floor gear + overhead cabin lights
  3. This is for my New-to-me 1991 M20J MSE : Gear waring horn as well gear light (in floor) and cabin lights non-functioning . From the wiring schematic it appears that the cabin lights and gear warning sonalert share the same power supply, but other than that I'm struggling to isolate the problem. Any/all suggestions welcome !
  4. There is an oil seal at the base of the vacuum pump drive shaft. It's not the gaskets that insure against oil leaks - it's the seal ! Clearly the seal was compromised during the pump change. Remove the pump, pry out the oil seal (that's the difficult part) install new oil seal, gaskets and pump.
  5. Hello Rich - So I'm troubleshooting the cabin overhead lighting circuit - I have the up-dated 1996 MSE interior with 4 overhead spot-lights controlled by individual switches. My SN: 24-3194 . Thanks! From beautiful Paris - France ....
  6. I found a copy of the Service Manual in the downloads section but can't seem to locate Section 2 with the electrical schemas ? Thanks!
  7. That's a "vernier" throttle cable from McFarlane. I just installed one in an Eagle. I was bit taken back by the size of the knurled friction adjustment collar, much bigger than the one it replaced. That said, on the factory panel there was plenty of clearance and no interference with the panel.
  8. I'm an A&P/IA, have a shop and for the last 7 years, my main focus has been salvage. First, you must consider that a $300K hull will be "written off" more often than the $800K hull simply because there is less $ available to make repairs rather than calling it a loss. On the other hand, with an $800K hull, there's a lot of $$$ available to repair. Furthermore, believe me, that $800K "salvage" hull is going to be worth more proportionally to it's overall value than the $300k hull simply because you can make it airworthy rather than parting it out.

  12. Hi Nick - Have you actually spent any time Flying a G1000 / GFC700 equipped plane ? I have, most recently a 2013 Piper Mirage G1000 back-to-back with a Piper Malibu with retro-fitted EFIS. There really is no comparison.
  13. You nailed it ! And there's a story behind this : The Owner of this Ovation is Jacques Cailles, a friend, is very well known in France & Europe. I call him "Monsieur G A " . He is the Editor in Chief and owner of the french language GA Magazine, Aviation & Pilote . Jacques is a good friend of Nicolas Chabbert and Nicolas was the Director of Mooney in the early 2000's , now the Director of Daher Aviation ( TBM ). So Jacques got special treatment when he ordered N77GJ and the GFC700 was actually fitted by Daher when the Ovation got back to France since Mooney had never installed one. At any rate, this Ovation has been VERY well cared for by Jacques and it has always been hanagerd , flies almost exclusively IFR and generally long-range trips. Jacques just flew GJ from Paris to Manchester New Hampshire in complete confidence and ZERO problems !
  14. Yep, he contacted me as well - I wish the ADMIN would remove these and flag their IPs
