  1. Bennet, thanks for sharing. For everyone else out there: Problem - loss of power. Step 1: check throttle position. Never trust a friction lock (or anything else in the airplane for that matter) w/o frequent verification. Hand on the throttle during takeoff and landing. Remove to retract gear, flaps, change radios, etc. Then BACK ON THE THROTTLE!
  2. Godspeed and blue skies! Look forward to reading more!
  3. Echo Mooneymite's comments. If you want to feel faster then pop 'em off. Any drag reduction, however small, is always good for a pilot's ego! Sorry, but you can't blame your bounced landings on the tiedown rings...that one's all you!
  4. You filed IFR to orginate at a VOR. Flightaware can't handle that as it only recognizes airfields so it picked the airfield matching the BRK identifier. Looks like FA tracked your position correctly once you picked up VFR flight following. Ditto the beauty of the CO mountains from a Mooney. Just flew across their recently enroute to OSH.
  5. Mooney aircraft emphasized their commitment to us, the Mooney owners, but could not disclose future plans. I'm very optimistic as Mooney has represented well at Oshkosh. The forum exceeded my expactations as the conversations carried on for over 30 min outside the forum pavilion interupting the speaker after us ( sorry Aspen). Hope this post is OK cause I just finished sharing Scotch with the Mooney, Bonanza, and Cessna guys. It's nearly 2am. Sorry you're not here...I love Oshkosh! Although it'll be a rough morning! For those of you not here: get here next year you're missing the fun!
  6. In 2012 EAA made every attempt to park aircraft with their respective mass arrival group. Unfortunately that policy is no longer in effect (found out today). However, come on by the Mooney Caravan tent in the North 40 and say hello. Reminder: Mooney forums Monday at 10 am and Wed at 2:30 pm EAA forum pavilions. Scotch Monday night in Mooney row. Bring a bottle to share.
  7. I guess those of us that are going to Oshkosh will just have to stop by booth 174-175 and see what's up. MAC has been invited to attend the Mooney Forums. Looking forward to a good time! See you all the show!
  8. Thanks to the folks at ArtCraft and Mitch/Jolie we'll have some refreshments available at the forums to help lubricate the conversations. Mooney pilots may obtain additional hydration nightly at the Mooney Caravan tent! "Stay thirsty my friends!"
  9. Unfortunately, Mooney Aircraft is NOT on the 2013 AirVenture Exhibitors list (again). http://www.airventure.org/exhibitors/2013Exhibitors.pdf Teresa from ArtCraft Paint (avid Mooney supporter) will have a booth and the Mooney Ambassadors have hung out there in the past. No Mooney booths at OSH, unless you count the Mooney Caravan tent in the North 40. We'll do out best to host our fellow Mooney drivers.
  10. There is a Target and a grocery store w/in about a 15 min walk from the North 40. The last few years EAA has actually been running a shuttle bus back and forth to stores from the North 40 campground. No price gouging and stores have been well stocked. Community is very supportive and friendly.
  11. Well known ferry pilot? With those guys on board its probably a well known 'fairy' pilot! Don't worry about the W&B I hear those 'fairy' pilots are pretty light in the loafers.
  12. Everyone only get 5 mins max for an intro and then the rest of the time is Q&A with the audience. Goal is to generate two-way interaction with the folks.
  13. FORUM UPDATE: Jack Wiegand, www.Solo2013.com to attend Oshkosh! Been around the world and now going to Oshkosh! After successfully circumnavigating the globe solo (age 20) in a Mooney Ovation Jack will add Oshkosh to his flight plan! Look for him at the Mooney Forum!
  14. Update: Working with Trey Hughes. He's trying to attend in person to represent MAPA! Potentially hopping a ride with Don Maxwell. Glad to have MAPA at AirVenture!

  16. Good work gents! See you in Madison in a couple weeks.
  17. Right on Piloto! Come on guys we're not talking about Lucky Charlie in '27. Can be safely done in most Mooney models. Proper planning, patience, and sound judgement are key. Although for those of you who choose not to fly at night or in IMC I understand how a trip across the pond would seem like going to Mars! A good friend of mine made the trip in a M20F a couple years ago (to France and back on his honeymoon). Happy to pass on his contact info (PM me) or he'd be happy to share his experience over a beer in the North 40. We'll also have a gent who his flying his Mooney to OSH from France, not to mention the TWO guys who just circumnavigated the GLOBE in their Mooneys: one Aussie (Banjo on this forum) and hopefully Jack Wiegand. Two of my Bonanza buddies, Larry Gaines and Mark Merrill, are leaving this week for a flight over the North Pole in their Bonanza (and then to Oshkosh). Even 'legacy' GA aircraft are dependable, capable machines! Happy 4th, Celebrate your freedom - GO FLY!
  18. Teresa at ArtCraft runs a great shop. www.artcraftpaint.com They do it right!
