  1. I have two very large dogs, Izzy (Great Dane/English Mastiff) and Hurley (Black Lab/Shepherd). I want to take them flying, but I don't have a clue how I'm going to get them into the plane. I have the split/reclining back seats, but I haven't looked close enough to see how they fold down or get removed. I'll have to take them to the hangar and prcatice getting them in and hopefully train them to get in without me having to pick them up. They are both very heavy. I'll have to block off part of the baggage compartment so they both don't cram themselves all the way back there. That would definitely mess up my W&B. Any suggestions for really big dogs?

  3. If I remember correctly, we are taught in the altitude chamber the biggest pressure change on the ears and such happens from about 5k down. My ears are pretty sensitive and that is where I have to valsava.
  4. I just flew from Mesa, AZ to Abilene, TX a couple of days ago. Backwards, I would fly SFL - EWM - DMN - SSO - TFD. Keeps you just North of El Paso but away from restricted areas (close enough to look at some cool stuff though). The highest point between SSO - TFD is about 7700ft, you can follow the valley and stay much lower though. It was my first long cross country brigging my plane to Texas from Santa Rosa, CA. Phoenix is brutal. Inbound from Cali I got the, pilot discretion decent, stay out of our airspace. Outbound I got instructed on a propper checkin. Oh, and use FULL call sign all the time. Again, I'm a new pilot, but my high time comm co-pilot was shocked too. My whole trip went very well other than the phx area.
  5. "I recently asked my neighbors' little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be a President. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do? ' She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.' Her parents beamed with pride 'Wow...what a worthy goal.' I ...told her, 'But you don't have to wait until you're a President to do that! You can come over to my house to mow the lawn, pull weeds, trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.' She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50? ' I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.' Her parents still aren't speaking to me." (Stolen from a Friend!)
  6. I just happened to run a tank dry moments before I was going to switch inbound for landing today. The engine definately lets you know somethng is up, and instantly I switched tanks and all was back to normal. Don't think I'll ever make a habit of it, and I'm sure it would scare the crap out of a passenger, but I'm glad I now have the exerience to know exactly how my plane reacts.
  7. Sent PM to esn and Romeo-Chalie. Never got a reply. I also have not seen this aircraft listed on LASARs website or any other. Let me know if they are still looking for a buyer. I start my search in a couple of weeks when I get back to the states. Tony
  8. After a few months of lurking, it's time to introduce myself I guess. I am an active duty Air Force C-130 Loadmaster. So another miltary mooney fan. I am returning from this deployment in a few weeks and am looking forward to buying a plane when I get home. I have been keeping an eye on what's on the market for the last few months. Luckily I don't need new paint, interior, IFR GPS or anything fancy. The simpler the better. Just a good basic Instrument/Commercial trainier with very occational 700mile trips home. There seems to be plenty of options available in my price range, mostly Es, but a couple of F models show up every now and then. I look forward to getting to go see some of these planes in person. When I get home you will see a lot more post from me. I will need some pre buy refrences I am sure. It seems like there are enough people here spread out across the country, that every plane for sale is right on someones homefield. So hopefully I'll get to meet some of you. I would like to go to the annual convention in October. It's not a far drive for me, but I am hoping to be flying it. Tony
  9. Hey everyone, Making my first post as a new member. I have been wanting to buy an airplane for a long time now, but always thought it would be too expensive to own. The only rentals anywhere near me are from a "school", so you can't carry pax, fly outside their short approved list of airports, or keep a plane overnight. Oh, and rental is up to $139 for a warrior! I am deployed right now and have spent a lot if time reading and re-reading every bit of study material for my Inst rating. I also decided I want to do it in my own aircraft so now I am reading and learning everything I can find on Mooneys. I've been fasinated with them every since I saw my first one. I'm glad I stumbled across this forum. If there is one thing I am for shure of right now, it's that I will be calling and visiting the guys at AAA as soon as I return to the states. Lucky for me they are only a few hour drive. It always looks like they have a good selection of quality aircraft when I check their inventory, and I wish I was home now. I can't decide between a C,E or F,they would all fit my mission well, but I hope at the end of September I can visit and they have something sitting there calling my name. As someone new, I think even without Jimmy or David defending their side, there are so many buyers satisfied with their experience at AAA, I can't imagine going anywere else for my first purchase. Can't wait to work with those guys soon, and experience it for myself. I've never been a forum kind of person, but reading through various post, I see how helpful everyone here at mooneyspace is. It's nice to know I will have somewhere to go when I have questions or need help. Isn't there a fly-in on Oct? Maybe I be one of the newest mooney owners there and will get to meet some of you. Tony
