  1. Quote: pjsny78 I just had to get mine realigned because my HSI was off. I know it’s in the wing and I believe it’s the left one. If no one answers your post tonight I can call and find out for you in the morning and let you know.
  2. I stopped at Kissimmee earlier this year for exactly the same reason. I used Kissimmee Jet Center. They had the cheapest gas. Not a great facility (a bit run down), but the staff was very helpful. They arranged for my rental car and had it delivered to my plane upon arrival. Pretty close to DisneyWorld. About a 10 minute drive to be on property. I would definitely stop there again.
  3. Small world. Mine is 24-3020. And I'm really interested in how you like the 496 mounted up there too. I'm tempted to run out to the hanger now and play with that idea some.
  4. I have 2 kids (8yrs and 5yrs). So far, we've found the Mooney to be a great family plane. The kids are small enough that with the four of us, full bags and full fuel, we're just under the gross limit. My wife grumbles a bit about the fact that she can't pack as much as she wants. Our Christmas trip from Atlanta to Houston was the most challenging baggage-wise, but we made that work too. The kids have plenty of room in the backseat for now. They usually play with an iPad or sleep. The best part is the economy. Anything under 800 miles, we'll beat the airlines "door to door" and for far, far less cost. I usually plan for 155kts on 10.5gph. The kids will eventually outgrow the backseat of the Mooney, and/or I'll have to start going with less than full fuel. By the time that occurs, the RV-10 I'm building should be ready. If for some reason we outgrow the RV-10, next on my list would be a Bonanza or Baron. -Aaron
  5. The RV-10 has 4 seats and will do around 165-170 kts. And they're typically far less expensive for a similar vintage production aircraft of the same performance. The RV-10 is a real world 4 adult plus full fuel and bags kind of plane.
  6. I recently found that one of my CHT probes connected to the engine monitor was not a cylinder well probe, but was a probe under the spark plug. The cylinder well probe for that cylinder was connected to the CHT guage above my 6pack. Thusly, one CHT reads about 50 higher than the rest on the engine monitor. I have plans to replace my engine monitor soon, so I'll swap them back so they are consistant.
  7. Congrats! I hope to be joining you. I have a checkride in my 205 on Thursday morning.
  8. Has anyone installed a Navworx ADS-B transciever in their Mooney yet? I'm considering it for the traffic and weather. I have a Garmin 530 and a GTX-330 Mode S transponder. I get traffic via TIS today, but once I'm outside of the Atlanta area, I don't get any TIS coverage, so I'm looking for ADS-B to fill in the gaps. The Navworx box can do composite traffic (both ADS-B and TIS). The weather is another matter. Garmin isn't interested in ADS-B weather from 3rd party devices. I assume it's because they get some of the revenue for XM weather. The guys at Navworx tell me they have a Wifi module for their box that'll let you see weather on your iPad. This is good enough for me, since I'll only be looking at the weather occasionally. Hopefully, someone here has already taken this step. Photos of the installation would be excellent. Thanks, Aaron
