  1. Something weird happened. So my computer decided to loose the autofill password. And I had forgotten which password I used for Mooneyspace. So I put in the forgot password mail me a password. But the email is not connected to my long standing avatar but this one - which I do not remember making. Anyway I cannot find my old avatar and password combo as you see. So who am I?! I am Erik Bollt known in these parts as aviatoreb with the co-pilot bear avatar picture and I fly N314EB the blue pi-plane mooney with 4 blades. E
  2. Oh yeah...AD - of course - how could I forget? About 7 or 8 years ago, I did a top overhaul when two of my cylinders went soft. I really regret having replaced all 6. I was mad at Continental that their cylinders are poorly machined generally so I got Titans. What do you know - like 3 months after I had them installed they got implicated in an AD. AOPA fought the good fight which allowed me to fly them for like 5 years. And they ran beautifully. But then I was forced to remove them by AD and replace the 6 perfectly good cylinders and throw them in the garbage and put on 6 perfectly good new cylinders - now everyone knows a cylinder job is >10k all in, r&r etc. Oh hum. And of course the way the process works, nothing even hoped from the cylinder company that sells a product that turns out to be defective. In any other industry when a product is determined defective and recalled the customer is compensated. Ahhhh flying.
  3. Fun (not) topic. Oh I have a lot of entrants into this thread. But first comes to mind is when my trim switch went bad for my KFC200 King autopilot. About 5 years ago. King wanted $2500 for a new switch. Apparently it had been $450 just a couple of years before. I called around a lot and found a old new-stock on someone's shelf for $900 and glad to have found it. This was seriously over priced since it is a little plastic knob on a micro switch. My son could build that for me out of radio shack parts for $10.
  4. Wow - I guess that rule is quite well placed then. 5 seconds is surreal.
  5. Hello - Aviatoreb - Erik Bollt here. With the system upgrade, I lost my login credential - aviatoreb no longer seems to be accessible by me. If I ask for a new password it sends me this instead with the identity EMB - a new user. Erik

  7. Nice Tony. I do almost just like that quite often. I see you must be a performance biker too with some nice Zipp 808's. One thing I do that I highly recommend. I got some BBQ covers (cheap from walmart), and I wrap them around the bikes, and hold with a cinch strap. Takes just a moment but what that does is it allows me to slide the bikes into the back without any worry that grease from the chains or scuff from the back tires will rub off ont he upholstry while inside the plane. Very much worth the extra step. Another small step I often take is to remove the pedals because there too they go in very easily if they don't have that horizontal platform to catch on. I travel with road bikes, mtn bikes, my tt bike, all on various occasions. One thing I have enjoyed a few times is to fly to a far away tt, ride my bike out of the airport gate to the tt as a warm up, then ride back and fly home. Two hobbies in less than the time of one. Erik
  8. Don't forget to bring your parachute Peter.
