Thanks for the replies. Anyone know jknutson2 from the x-plane forum? Looks like they were pretty far into a m20c model. Last visited the x-plane forum in April. https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/104450-hp-vs-mp-altitude/&tab=comments#comment-1032650

Hi, Does anyone know of a M20C X-plane model? Thanks, Jared

Hi, Has anyone had to replace the flap indicator cable? Any hints for the new to Mooney A/Ps? Looks like .058 steel(?) wire. Has a soldered connector on the indicator end and a clamp connector on the flap cylinder end. Flap end is easy - existing hardware will work. What connector goes on the indicator end? It looks like a soldered ring connector. Unsolder and re-use? Feed it from the indicator end? Can the wire be fed with the casing in-place? Thanks, Jared

Ross' 12 step program has the first step as backing out the set screw. We skipped that step. Any benefit to backing out the set screw before we start the marathon flap handle flapping sessions? Prior to the leak the flaps were perfect. Every stroke moved the flaps. The 3 stratoflex hoses replaced were dated December 7, 1964. They were stiff but still functional. The flap cylinder o-ring was worn flat where it made contact with the cylinder wall. It was the source of the leak. Hints on the rebuild kit: Soak the leather washers for 10 minutes in 5606. Use fuel lube (EZ Turn) on the cylinder threads to facilitate installation of the piston with new leather/o-ring.

Hi, We replaced the leather and o-ring on the flap piston and bleed the system from the actuator up. The first pump on the flap handle does nothing. The second pump starts the flaps moving. Should we bleed it again or will the air work its way out of the system over time? Regards, Jared + 2 new to Mooney APs.

Help with Clamp identification
JaredDavis replied to JaredDavis's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Thanks Andy. I wanted to try a search for NOS before we go the modification route. This is located beneath the co-pilots seat near the flap pump. I could not find the clamp in the IPC. -
Hi, Does anyone know the part number of this clamp on a 65C? It is near the flap pump. Sorry about the blurry photo.

65C Hydraulic Flap Actuator Hose Replacement
JaredDavis replied to JaredDavis's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
The 12" hose bulkhead connection looks like one of those things where it takes an experienced person 3 minutes with perhaps one Jiminy Cricket. Gaining that experience always seems better on reflection. Months later, when the exact details are fuzzy and the skin abrasions have healed. I wasn't planning on replacing the 20" low pressure hose from the pump to the reservoir. However, now that I see the access on the other end - why not. Thanks. -
Jim- I wish it was warm enough for that to be an issue. Regards, Jared

Hi, Went to go flying yesterday and the flap handle had no resistance. Some 5606 dripping from the belly. We think it is the o-rings on the flap actuator piston. Is Lasar the best source for the piston rebuild kit? Is leather still the preferred material for the piston? The current one only lasted 50 years.<g> Any hints or warnings for the AP on removal of the actuator? Can it be serviced in place? As carusoam suggests, how difficult is it to replace the 3 hoses between the pump and the actuator? If you have to bleed, why not make it better? Two look like generic numbers, the third looks like a mooney model number: SF111-312-312-4-12 (Strato flex 111-4, 12" long with AN?312 on each end?) SF111-312-312-4-27 (Strato flex 111-4, 27" long with AN?312 on each end?) 750000-9 - Is it just AL line with two flares? Seems like the A/P could make that one.

Is opening the door enough or does it need to be wedged with something? Anyone fly with a notched block of wood?

Suggestions for taking 80+ yr old passengars
JaredDavis replied to flyingvee201's topic in General Mooney Talk
My 100 year old pilot father ( < 140lbs) has gone for rides in the M20C several times. He finds it easier to sit on the front of the wing, facing forward. Then "schooches" on his butt from the wing to the seat. That way he doesn't have to transition from standing on the wing to the seat. He has great arm strength. His balance is only as good as an 85 year olds.<g> -
I ordered the same unit as Houman & Marauder from Amazon. It arrived from China fairly quickly. It had a loose part inside the case. It is some surface mount component I don't know how to identify. I looked around and could not find an obvious spot where the component was attached. Bottom of unit is different than the pictures on amazon. It does not have the non US frequencies on it. I used an ATT sim from AlarmSIM. Works ok in NY.
