  1. Retractable gear will be new to me from an ownership perspective. Is there a good source with schematics on how the mooney gear operates? I would love to learn about both manual and the electric. Rob Turbett
  2. Great article. That definitely increased my knowledge on cylinder compression. on a side note, do you have to drink two bottles of that powerful laxitive before having the boroscope done?
  3. Can anyone offer advice on any tax advantages of having a mooney registered through a business versus as an individual? What specific tax advantages sre there? Any insurance difference? anticipated business use will be about 5% at first, but growing once the IFR is finished. Thanks, Rob
  4. My intuition tells me that the cylinders should all be in the same gerneral range. If one or two show numbers very diferent, then you need to investigate. Is there a particular cylinder on a mooney that has a reputation for wearing first?(Lycoming) Rob
  5. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on the cost of a top overhaul for a 66 C? At what compression numbers are you deciding its time to be done? What would you consider to be an acceptable oil burn rate? Are the numbers much different for an E or F? Thanks, Rob Turbett
  6. You love 1969 E's.. You think they are the best plane ever. You should buy it right now. Dont let this one get away. You know better than to miss an opportunity like this. This will keep you away from any 65-66 E that I may find.. Rob

  8. I am thrilled to have all the input.Thank you! I do not have an "unlimited budget", but after pouring over classifieds for the past couple months it is pretty clear that you get what you pay for, but still great values. Please feel free to notify my of any for sale that you have personal knowledge of. My checklist has the following please advise if there is anything else to look for/ avoid: engine time prop ad/ upgrade airframe radios paint corrosion fuel tank reseal landing gear maintenance/ donuts interior condition damage history, but as lng as it has been repaired properly not too bothered by it would only consider a gear up history if the engine had been totally torn down with a crankshaft inspection. Its great to have found an active forum. Thanks again, and I look forward to joining the mooney family. Rob
  9. I'm mooney shopping- anyone care to voice their preference of a c, e, or f model? I am considering 1965 to 1968 Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Rob
