  1. I'm looking for a Mooney rated CFI in the Rochester NY region. Any leads or connections would be appreciated! Rob Turbett 585-750-0079
  2. Thank you!
  3. What other differences are there between an F that is full of the speed mods- ie one pc belly, seals, windshield, and a factory production J? Thanks, Rob
  4. Jimmy was very clear- he is employed by the seller, as I would expect most brokers to be. My original post should have read " Brokers people are comfortable working with" and the people mentioned have so far lived up to that. Rob
  5. I was able to reach jimmy, a call back shortly after my initial call.
  6. Lets try- making a call right now! Rob
  7. Looking for recommendations on favorite brokers to work with on the purchase of a Mooney. Besides doing the searching for the potential candidates, (which I have been doing, with more than a fair number of candidates) what other expectations do you have when you enlist a brokers service? Thanks, Rob
  8. Donated today- love all the detailed information and experiences that I have learned from here. Planning to be a Mooney owner soon. Rob
  9. Are there any specific challenges to bringing a Canadian registered mooney to the US? Just curious about opening up the possibilities Rob
  10. My decision had nothing to do with the condition of the aircraft- it appears to be very well maintained. It was more due to the expected value of it. I don't know if a high time aircraft has more maintenence issues if it has been well maintained. I would naturally think so, but cant say for sure. If it was a plane that I would expect to keep forever, than I wouldn't be concerned. I can easily see wanting an F in the future, so for now this aircraft isn't the one for me. I am guessing it will make someone very happy.
  11. Holding off on this one for now. An A&P that I respect advised me that the value of any light aircraft with that many hours on it is questionable. As he put it, you can always put an engine, prop or radio in a plane, but you can't take hours off an airframe. At least I am going to spend some time thinking about it-
  12. Anyone have experience with this MSC on long island? Considering them for a prebuy inspection. Thanks, Rob
  13. Haven't decided yet. Will make a decision when the maintenance history makes it to me. Thanks for the feed back. Rob
  14. Thanks, That was valuable. I am sure I will have more questions when I have access to the annuals and AD history. Rob
  15. 9600+ hours 1976 C Was told it spent most of its life as an embery riddle ifr trainer. I dont have a problem with an aircraft that has been inspected every 100 hours. Hasn't flown too much the past 6 or seven years. Any special concerns for an aircraft that has cycled that much? After looking at older C's for thier manual gear, my first concern would be to track what gear work has been done. Downside is that there is no autopilot/ wing leveler. I thought I had settled on an F, but willing to have the occaisional passengers suffer for the money saved!
  16. Thanks, looking at a high time - and I mean high time...C that has a low time engine and the radios I want. Waiting for the copies of the last two annuals along with the AD compliance history.
  17. Any recommendations for a mooney pre buy inspection in the northeast? somewhere near long island wold work best. Thanks, Rob Turbett
  18. I am sure airflow is a factor, but there is definitely design factors involved. Cessna 310 controls seemed exceedingly heavy, yet a Twin Otter was very light. The Mooneys controls felt very stable- I liked it. Rob
  19. i see the arrow at 10,000 now.....
  20. 10,000? iwas having trouble reading your altimeter- looked like you were 5 ft off the ground doing 130 with your gear up! so in general, a c is doing 140 to 145 , and f with the extra hp is doing 145 to 153. Thanks, Rob
  21. can anyone provide real world numbers on the performance of a m20C ,E,F and G? Some of the online references seem conflicting. Assuming a mid time engine and a 64 to 70 vintage. Thanks, Rob
  22. While it took a moment to get in the "right" way-once inside it was very comfortable. It had more room than I needed I loved the climb performance, which I expected. I fell in love with the controls- a gentle but firm nudge and it went where you pointed it. Must be the difference in direct links versus cables. Also, the pilot I was with liked to get the gear down early-just outside the pattern. With the wheels down, speed management was easy- much less of an issue than I was expecting. Rob
  23. Was hoping each of you could comment on what your first experience with a Mooney was like. I just took my first flight in a C and it was everything I had hoped for. Rob
  24. Does anyone have a good place or a contact to get a complex endorsement in a mooney? I am located in Upstate New York. Thanks, Rob Turbett
  25. I did leave a message for the real Randall Sims, If I were him I would consider a company that protects your credit via your ss number. Rob
