  1. My plane is an Ovation 3 2007. It was prewired for the GFC700 but it was delivered w/ the STec since the GFC700 was not avaliable at delivery time. Mooney quoted me $65000 to upgrade the Autopilot and add Wass. It is cheaper to sell your plane and buy a GFC700 plane.
  2. My Platium enigne was delivered with Champion Fine wires. Anyone have a report on the Tempest (Autolite) Fine wires?
  3. MAPA is worth every cent. I have saved thousands with the maintence , SBs and AD advice and the classifieds offer members the opportuntiy to buyy/ sell within the family and greats savings. The MPPP offers expert training and saves more than the cost in Insurance discounts.
  4. I read on Fly.Garmin.com that new software is now available for G1000 users that will show flights on Google Earth. Anyone download it yet and if so does it also download flight times and data like the portables allow through Garmin Flight log?
  5. Beware of using marine or hardware store stainless contersink screws. Aviation grade CSK screws have the same thread and pich but the counter sink angle is 100 degrees. Non aviation is an smaler angle so the screw heat will not sit flush and may damage your cowl.
  6. PAR 36 refers to the size and type of light bulb. PAR is a Parabolic Aluminized Reflector 36 Diameter= 36 increments of 1/8 inch of 4.5"
  7. Check Out http://www.whelen.com/_AVIATION/a-docs.php I am not affilated with Whelen in any way, But I do like this product
  8. Download : Mooney Service Instruction #M20-117 – Correct Orientation Mounting Nose Gear Retracting Link From Mooney.com The SB has a drawing of the nose gear
  9. The shades are designed to reduce heat buildup in the cabin. Excess heat is detrimental to the interior materials and the avionics. The amount of sunlight passing thru the window is less harmful than the heat it produces. BTW do not use the interior shades with a cabin cover. The trapped heat will damage your windows. If you are still concerned just pay to hanger your plane when away.
  10. Buy a 40 inch long, Flat wide bungee with plastic j hooks on the ends. Hook on the seat fwd/aft adj. bar of east seat and through and/or around the inboard horn of each control wheel. Works great and is cheap. Just dont takeoff with it on.
  11. The HSI is driven by the KG102 Gyro. The KG102 uses an optical reader with 360 slots 1 for each degree. When I had the same issue, it was the KG 102 that needed an overhaul and cleaning. Dust on the card would cause the same problem. It maybe the HSI needs an overhaul too if it cannot keep up with the KG 102. The slaving system consists of the magnetometer in the wing and the head on the panel. It usually is not the problem, Unless you have magnetized part of the airframe
  12. Full Tanks are best for sealant and reduction of condensation, However Full tanks reduce useful load and compress the rubber shock disks. A full tank seal can run 10k and the shock disks are 1k + labor. Make your best choice
  13. Mooney Ovation 3 7500MSL TAS 190 FF 19.7
  14. The hobbs registers time in tenths/ Hr of when the airspeed is greater than 60 knts. The G1000 engine time measures like a Tach ( Cruise rpm 2200 1-1 time) at 1100 rpm 50% of the time, Thus is you have a long taxi or hold before take off the Tach will register but the hobbs will not ( unless you have a 60 knt wind on the Ground) Hope this helps
  15. The Hobbs in the Late Model Ovations are wired thru the airspeed safety switch. The + to the hobbs is always hot it it connected to the baggage light circut. When the a/s exceeds 60+ knts the Hobbs is grounded thru the a/s safety switch. The a/s safety switch diaphram closes 2 circuts one for the gear and the other for the hobbs. The switch comes with a wiring diagram that is incorrect (even from Mooney) . Contact Bill Wheat @ Mooney for the correct hookup. You can find the hobbs on the electrical schematic in the center on the top of the diagram next to the baggage light.
  16. Just posted screen shots for my O3 TAS averaged in 4 directions was 195 Kts with Fuel Flow of 19 GPH
