  1. Glad to hear a success story, E. We picked up over 10kts IAS by fine tuning aleron, elevator and especially rudder rigging using factory jigs and specifications. See previous posts for details. Highly reccomend doing so at each annual!
  2. Sold. Thank's Pierre.
  3. I still have two E Model SureCheck checklists. One is the "Pro" model; laminated two sides. The other is the "Full" model; 13 pages, spiral bound. $10.00 for both via PayPal includes US postage. My e-mail is: airkraft@comcast.net. Thanks, all.
  4. Jolie, Chris PM me with adress info., or better yet, use airkraft@comcast.net (my e-mail). One is SureCheck PRO model; laminated two sides. Other is Full model; 14 pages spiral bound. See: Surecheckaviation.com for details. Just looking for postage. ...gary
  5. I have 2 SureCheck checklists. Anybody want 'em?
  6. Anyone in need of a checklist for 1964-1967 E models? I have the Surecheck "Full Checklist" (Spiral bound, plastic laminated, 13 Pages) and the "Pro Checklist" (2 sides, plastic laminate).
  7. Dave, Jason, Quinn, et. al. I tried a PM but it did not go through. We are (unfortunately) selling a very well cared for 1966 E model. See www.mooneypilots.com or call/contact for more detail. Thanks and welcome!... GK
  8. Good to hear, Dave. Hope you'll take me up in the J sometime soon!... GK
  9. Canopy cover, at least, I hope. Certainly not ideal storage conditions. Like the others have said, communicate with Lasar. They know what they are doing... GK
  10. Alan, I'd also look at where the aircraft has been in making my decision on whether to inspect more thoroughly. Hangered in Tucson or tied down outside in Houston?
  11. Hi Dave, We installed the turn limit indicator at first annual. It was not overly expensive, as I recall. It's a MAC part that became available through a service bulletin. The turn limits are reached very easily. Did you ever find a J model? Enjoyed the mountain wave soaring lesson... GK

  13. Thanks, 223 I'll look into APA but it will be difficult to find a new group of three that worked as well as we had! The airplane has about 1,635TT, 175 or so SMOH by Western Skyways. 201 style W/S and lots of maintanence upgrades. MSC annuals. Good, for original, paint. 2001 interior is excellent. Anyway, if anyone has any interest PM me, call or go to MAPA web site for more details. Again, I do not want to overstep any boundrys on this fantastic web resource!
  14. Unfortunately, we've decided to dissolve our Mooney partnership. Is there an appropriate method or protocol using MooneySpace to list an aircraft or other Mooney related items for sale? If there is not, I think a special forum for this purpose would be useful and desirable. Any thoughts?
  15. HRM, I should have re-specified averaging GPS ( or radar) groundspeeds. This WILL provide a very accurate measure for true airspeed at the particular power setting and density altitude.
  16. HRM, Uh, yes, as I agreed with Magnus earlier in this discussion, an average of the four cardinal ground speeds is one of the best ways to establish true airspeed.
  17. HRM, Maybe I missed something, but ground speeds are completely irrelevant to this discussion. Your GPS and the tracking services only know speed over the ground; not indicated or true airspeed.
  18. I do agree with Cruiser. Have a good Mooney Service Center or a truly savvy Mooney AI remove and re-install the engine. There are a lot of variables on a turbo Mooney installation that can affect your satisfaction down the road. I'd also employ one, if at all possible, for the PPI! As for engine shops, again, work with your MSC. I've had excellent results with Western Skyways in Montrose, CO. They overhauled 4 engines in planes that I fly frequently (IO-360A1A, O-320E2D, TSIO-520UB, TIO-540S1D).
  19. I've been to 15,500' for over an hour with my two German Shepherd Dogs. They were fine. I agree that if your dog rides well in a car a Mooney will probably be little different. I've tried Mutt-Muffs as well. I've been told that the low frequency engine noise probably bothers canines little anyway.
  20. Piper, do you have a hanger at home base? Red and black do not lend well to sun exposure in my experiance. Pretty scheme, though. I'd add white/yellow checkerboard to the tail. Something like the winning flag at an Indy race? I saw a 231 like that and it made the Mooney look even faster...GK
  21. Installation is critical to the success of an M20. We've repositioned ours twice and now have it spot-on, apparently. I'm at 7 Qts. now after about 15 hours since last oil change of 8 Qts. The separator was on the a/c when we bought it. I like to run 8 Qts. I'm sure 6 Qts. is perfectly fine. I've even been advised by one knowledgeable pilot that running the oil below maximum quantity allows the engine to run cooler. Not sure how that works. Oil cooler is more efficient? Our C172(O-320E2D) starts at 8 and runs down to 6 and holds there (no M20). Just my two cents...GK
  22. I'd be careful. My partner had a prop strike two years ago on our 450 hour 1989 factory overhauled engine. During tear down inspection there was $6,000 worth of internal corrosion related issues that could not have been seen during our borescope pre-buy inspection. The crankcase was aggressively fretted, also. We decided to overhaul the engine rather than spending $6K to close up a 20+ year old engine while it was already in the shop. This is not to imply that the engine might not have made it to TBO, but there's a lot of internal stuff that just doesn't like not being splashed with hot oil as often as possible. Our aircraft was hangered in Missouri.
