another newbie question...when you are fuelling to the tabs do you mean the bottom of the triangle thingy? I couldn't really see any tabs as such when i looked (as opposed to the ones in the cherokee i had before). sorry if this is a bit vague but i don't have access to the plane until mid feb whilst the avionics work is being done so am going from memory. those tabs then give 50 gallons?
thanks,
al.

Summer I can hit the primer for 7 seconds and it will fire off immediately. Once it got cold
I had real problems starting my 231. Here is what I came up with. ...... This morning it was 23 degrees
.
i thought i would share some pics from our first Mooney adventure. A short hop to see the normandy landing beaches. The vendors dad landed on Gold beach so we went for a quick look see....
its all official - i am now the legal owner of N201YK - a 1978 M20J. She was here for 2 days and i've lost her for a month whilst she gets her new toys. Looking forwards to lots of flying in Feb!

here's a pic of my new baby when we went for a bit of a fly around the island and the landing beaches last week.
Hi,
I was looking at the specs of the M20J - 201 here:
http://www.pilotfriend.com/aircraft%20performance/Mooney/47.htm
I don't understand the range figure. They give 690nm and a cruise of 170kts. This equates to about 4 hours flying. With a 64 gallon tank, 4 hours flying is a fuel rate of 16 gallons/hr. This is much higher than I was expecting - I thought the Mooney was more like 10-11 gals/hr which equates to around 850 nm. Which is correct?.
Cheers,
Al.
hi mike,
thank you for the offer.
I have only about 1 hour in my mooney (I am waiting to collect it post inspection). I have now found an FAA flight school in France that is only a 45m flight away and is split into a couple of week long courses.
I would still be willing to do a "holiday" swap if anyone was interested in heading over to Europe next summer, although I can't see me going anytime before this time next year.
Al
Just as a thought if you are ordering any expensive removable bits for your mooney let me know. we have no VAT here and as we are technically outside the EU this gets deducted saving you 15-20%. I can then post it on to you.

hi,
i am hoping to put a small group around my new mooney. I have been told tho that there are legal issues between selling hours wet and dry. does anyone know what the issues are?
thanks,
al.
Hi,
i am planning on coming to Florida to do my IR in February for 10 days or so, and was interested to know if anyone would be interested in leasing me a mooney for a couple of weeks, or as an alternative, swapping the use of their US based mooney for the use of mine if you fancied a European tour this summer.
Alun.

Do you know it has a damage history? http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=10472
Very long ago, but was totaled. Might save you some bucks :-)

Thanks! Lets hope the pre-buy is all ok.
Had a big long chat with a guy at Airtime, Bournemouth about the avionics. He is recommending a 430W, mode S and a JP Instruments EDM as the dyson isn't STC'd or TSO'd as far as he can tell. We shall see how it all works out but that i think is my budget spent!
