  1. Thank you! I'll look for them tomorrow.
  2. Haha! Well now its fixed! can you do my annuals too? It moves around OK and I can center it in flight, but always off when on the level ground... Piloto, is the mount the round things holding the panel to the tubing (that the screws go through)? or is there something else I am missing? I can't find any real info on how they should look..It seems like it would be hard to move it up enough to straighten that much "right low", but it has to be something! Thanks again guys..
  3. Funny you mention the iPhone. I actually did that on the bottom of the panel and it was off little but not as much as the ball. I will try checking the level at the mounting screws tomorrow. I'm not sure of the model. I'll look through my paperwork. I could not see any brand names on the unit. Thanks again!
  4. That pic is on the ground...sorry should have specified... it will center in flight with rudder control. but then flies a little crooked.. Thanks !
  5. Hello, My Mooney Ovation turn coordinator is off (to the right) a significant amount (half ball). All other leveling checks tell me the plane is sitting level, so I am thinking an adjustment to the coordinator or the panel is tilted... Anyone have this issue? I can't really see how the panel could be off that much and can't see anywhere to adjust on the coordinator... Picture attached Thanks in advance for any advice!
  6. I hear you on "blanket" vs "real" icing. This time of year over here you can count on some icing in the forecast almost all days! Nice to have that TKS in the "back pocket"! safe flying!
  7. Hello, I have TKS FIKI on my Ovation I purchased last August. I did not install it, but bought it already installed. I used it for the first time last weekend flying over the cascade mountains from Seattle to Idaho and was very impressed by it's performance. I was in Moderate to Heavy icing and would have been in a real situation without it. It cleared my wing nicely and pretty quick. This area of the country is about as bad as it gets... The only issue I found, was making sure you have fluid at your destination, or carry a little to refill with you. Which obviously can eat useful load. I used a bit too much fluid because I intentionally stayed in the icing longer than I would next time so that I could learn the system and test it's performance. I am glad I went with the TKS system. Good luck!
  8. I bought a Mooney Ovation with A/C recently and went through the exact same thoughts. I Live in the NW and just don't need it a whole lot. I made some calls and looked at all the components ...It looks like a pretty hefty job for the things behind the batteries. I know there is some demand for some of the parts, but not sure the actual value. It has been nice to have during taxi, run up and lower altitudes on warm days though... I decided to just leave it alone for now. Let me know if you make some moves on removing and I'll do the same if I do.. Good luck!
  9. I just PM'd you
  10. Also, John and Glendale said its in great shape..
  11. Glendale aero has been doing the annuals. They are just really busy. Annual was done a couple months ago, flown approx 4 hours, then owner got hurt and cannot fly so put the plane up for sale . It's not staying in AZ...coming home to Seattle ! I feel good about Glendale Aero, they are just very busy and not sure when they can get to it...so was hoping to find a familiar A/P in the area Thanks! Joe
  12. Thanks... I'll see about the option of moving it after calling them. Was hoping to find someone close or able to travel a little. They can use the hangar its in and would be real basic pre buy because it has not flown much at all since last annual a couple months ago... Hopping Glendale aero can do it soon, but they are slammed
  13. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a Mooney pre-buy in Glendale, AZ? Preferably ASAP ... PM or comments appreciated.. Thank you!
  14. Thanks for all the great responses..I appreciate them!
  15. As an example.. Two ovations, both have same engine, same basic radios, gps, etc. One has TKS and A/C. and the other does not. I would expect this one should then have approx 106 pounds less useful, but actually has 175-ish less I am wondering where to find that 75 pounds? (that's 12+ gallons of fuel!!
  16. I have been looking at a few different Ovations and they all have the same engine and similar equipment. A couple have A/C, etc. that would add more weight. I have done the math based on the Planes with some "heavier" items (like the A/C). Still on a couple there is a pretty substantial difference in useful load ... 130 pounds, 173 pounds as an example. Where else would you look for this difference in weight? Any ideas why there would be such a range in Useful Load between these essentially same airplanes? Thanks as always for any ideas..
  17. Any good recommendations for Mooney Experienced Mechanics in these two locations? (Also, anyone to stay away from ??..Can PM me if afraid to get "flamed".. ) I am considering a couple of Mooneys and need to have them checked out once I decide... Thank you!
  18. Thanks All ! I really appreciate the great feedback...Bonanzas are beautiful planes for sure. I was curious because as one person mentioned, I hear of Mooney guys going to Bonanza, but never have heard of a Bonanza owner going to a Mooney.. I am likely to go back to Mooney because of my comfort level and great experience with my previous my J I really had no complaints about it when I sold it a few years ago (I was gone a lot so didn't like it sitting around) fly safe!
  19. Just wondering if anyone has switched over from a Bonanza to a Mooney ....why? and thoughts after? (performance, comfort, etc.) FYI- I searched for this in threads and likely missed them... Thanks for any opinions!
  20. If anyone is interested I have a 3 blade MT with white and red scimitar blades for sale, complete with composite spinner for an E or F as is or it can be installed on a J with a different spinner. Asking $5,500 plus shipping Clarerence Beintema clarence@tricityaero.com 519-580 -1572
  21. Hi Alisha, Please take your new Mooney to a qualified and knowlegeable Mooney mechanic. Do not have anyone disassemble your trim system unless they have current manuals and the correct Mooney travel boards for setting and adjusting the trim system. To allow other wise may lead to an acident. Disassembling and reassembling the trim system as described in another post assumes that it is or was correct in the first place. Like so many other Mooney's your's most likely simply needs a bit of attention. Your trim wheel should be operable with the tip of your middle finger while holding a bit of back pressure on the yoke. 22. I finished my IFR rating in July. My instructor did not have Mooney time, I had 150 hours in my Mooney prior to starting training. Could not hurt to have a Mooney familiar CFII, but in my opinion, it's more important to just have a good CFII.
  23. I just did my Instrument written and checkride in the last month. I used ASA Instrument Rating Test Prep Book and Oral Prep Book...basically read through them and answered every question, then went back to areas I was having troubles with and repeated..It has been a while since I did my private (20 years), but the stress is the same from what I remember...Just study as hard as you can and get good rest the day before.. You know what you know and worst case you miss somehting and have to take that part again. Do your best to get good sleep the night before and eat a good breakfast the day of. From my experience, the Private and Instrument exams (oral, written and flight) were not as bad as I thought they were going to be...Study hard up to the day before, then get good rest and don't get too worked up...Like I do ..GOOD LUCK!
  24. Like Mitch.. I don't really have a set standard on when I use my speed brakes. I just finished my IFR rating and did not use them much at all while training becuase of the slower speeds when in the various approaches. The most common time for me using them are for 1. losing altitude whithout gaining too much speed 2. helping me get to my landing gear speed sooner (then the real speed brakes come out) 3. Landing under a little more power (although below 90kts, I am not sure they really do too much) 4. Flying closer to the destination airport at higher speeds ..... Im sure there is more I am forgetting and more I can learn about them and look forward to hearing others stories... In general, I like having them there....many times I dont even bother with them, but when I need them, they sure com in handy...
  25. I was just log'd in as someone else today... I did'nt get a chance to see who it was (unfortunately) but something is still off a little....just signed out and got back on my own user name....
