  5. http://youtu.be/Gzf8RY91MX8 In case you miss this at OSH. We made a short video called Mooney Legend.
  6. I think today's seminar was great. As mentioned above over 100 attending. It was nice to hear an update on the factory about manufacturing parts and supporting our fleet. Larry from the Caravan, Don Maxwell, and Trey Hughes from Texas also provided valuable information. VMG, Don Kaye [Master CFI] and Dr. Bob Achtel [MAPA Log] were also on the panel with Mitch and I. We showed an introductory video on Mooney called Mooney Legend [i will get it up on YouTube soon]. And we also showed a special OSH trailer of our documentary, Boots on the Ground. We get to do it all again on Wednesday at 2:30. Dave Marten [sARDOT] did a WONDERFUL job with being the moderator. The Mooney booth is hopping with speakers, t-shirts, decals and a place to sit down and relax. Mitch and I will be doing some presentations at the Mooney booth TH/Fri/Sat. Dinner tomorrow is at Friar Tuck's 5:30 p.m. All welcome. I do have a limited amount of Moo Drives [$20] and T-shirts available [$15]
  7. Mitch and I helped the folks from Mooney set up their display. It was so nice to see the Mooney flag flying again at OSH. The Mooney forum for Monday is at 10, not 10:30. Look forward to seeing folks there.
  8. Watching the Caravan arrive OSH13 was thrilling. I took a lot of photos and they are on my facebook album: OSH 13. Here are a few...
  9. I would guess that if you are coming to the MAPA Homecoming April 10-12, 2014 that the shirts might be available. I will try to find out.
  10. Press Release Mooney to Attend AirVenture 2013 Company Celebrates 60-Year Anniversary of M20 production in Kerrville Kerrville, TX, July 23, 2013 – Free commemorative shirts, guest appearances from top pilots and legendary aircraft are all part of The Mooney Aviation Company’s AirVenture line-up as it celebrates its 60-year anniversary of when Mooney began to manufacture its legendary M20 fleet of fast, safe, and efficient airplanes. “This is an historic time for Mooney and being present at AirVenture is an opportunity to celebrate with our loyal Mooney owners. We want to remind them that we are actively in business,” says Barry Hodkin, Chief Financial Officer. “There are over 7,000 airplanes in service out of the 11,000 Mooneys manufactured in Kerrville so customer support is our top priority.” Mooney engineers and manufacturing experts continue to focus on support for the legendary fleet of airplanes. In addition to Mooney staff support, there are over 50 Mooney service centers that are preferred suppliers of parts and services for the Mooney owners. To celebrate the 60-years of the M20, Mooney will be giving away a commemorative 60-year (more) t-shirt to Mooney owners who bring along a copy of their Mooney registration to the Mooney booth located in spaces 174-175, west of Rockwell Collins Exhibit Hangar C and southwest of the intersection of James Ray Blvd. and Museum Rd. At the booth, Mooney will be celebrating its heritage by honoring two Mooney legends along with two airplanes from its M20 line. Jack Wiegand, who recently broke the record for the youngest person to fly solo around the world, will be on hand along with the airplane he chose for his record-breaking flight: the N432BG. Mr. Wiegand chose the Mooney Ovation 2 GX for his successful endeavor because it offered the ultimate balance between speed and efficiency. Lee White, a highly regarded racing driver and head of Toyota Racing, will also be at the Mooney booth. He applied his racing skills to his Mooney 231 and set national and world speed records in 2000. Mooney historians will also enjoy seeing an original 1955 M20 that will also be on display. “We’re delighted to have these pilots and airplanes at Airventure as part of our 60-year anniversary,” noted Hodkin. “They illustrate the evolution of the M20 line from the original wood wing model designed by Al Mooney to its ultimate form.” While Mooney is currently not manufacturing airplanes, there is reason for optimism as the company continues to discuss new investment opportunities with interested parties. “Nobody is quitting on the Mooney brand,” says Hodkin. “It’s among the most respected aviation brands in the world. Difficult economic times have caused us to suspend production for the last several years, but we’re definitely looking at getting back in the game.” For more information on Mooney, please visit www.mooney.com
  11. We will know more as soon as the investigation is done. What we "know" is take off 36 about the 200 feet in the air at the windsock. Sharp right turn, into the trees. One witness said motor was running when they got to the plane, prop was not "attached" to the plane. I hope we can learn some more details from the wife/widow. I am only speculating that either it was a medical issue or a control surface issue. It doesn't appear to be an engine issue [sounded normal to witnesses]. I don't know if the pictures will help. First is of 18 approach. Second is the Ovation on the landing roll 36. To me it looks like the windsock is about half way down the runway on the right [36] Again, my thoughts are with the family. The photo looks hauntingly familiar to my crash
  12. According to staff at Mountain West FBO at TVL. DA=10,000 Another source said the family had a cabin in the area and was not unfamiliar. I remember a scenario out of Big Bear many years back. DA=10,000 we watched a Mooney struggle, touch back on the runway, take off again headed for the trees. I thought we were watching an accident. He pulled up at the last minute to avoid trees and disappeared from sight. Luckily the dry lake bed beyond provided a flat area for shallow climbing turns. With my accident, the engine was at idle and the prop looked pretty perfect after landing. Still in shock and thoughts are with his wife. Sad day
  13. More information on Kathryn's report. This is what we were told as well by line staff up there. http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2013/07/mooney-m20-crash-at-south-lake-tahoe.html
  14. Very sad to see one in our Mooney family is lost. I wonder if density altitude played a factor. It has been quite hot up in TVL. http://www.news10.net/news/article/251493/2/Man-killed-woman-injured-in-Tahoe-plane-crash-?odyssey=tab My thoughts and prayers are with the families. A sad day
  15. I put an email into the VP at Mooney. I don't believe Mooney is coming. That would be a happy day when Mooney and MAPA are back at OSH.
  16. Mitch and I will be there all week. The challenge remains a central meeting location as everyone has their own agenda. One suggestion is to try to meet up before Lt. Dan Band on Friday night. I mean you have to get there early to get a row of seats. Ask me how I know. Usually he is in the Theater in the Woods, but this year looks to be right in Phillips Center [used to be Aeroshell Square]. So I guess we can scratch the idea of saving seats. Mitch and I will be at the Caravan BBQ, the Mooney Forums [M and W], playing in the EAA concert band Wed eve, helping at the Flying Eyes booth in the Fly Mart, and presenting for GAMA/Build-A-Plane. Whew. Wearing your Mooney gear is a good start! We will bring items to the forums in case you are lacking in that department. What a fun time!
  17. Mitch and I are excited to be a part of the forum and thank Dave for putting this together.
  18. Hey there, if just send me your name and mailing address to: MooneyAmbassadors@charter.net I prefer a check, but can do Paypal JolieLucas@charter.net
  19. I will be bringing a limited quantity of the Mooney Ambassador Moo Drive to OSH. Also available by US mail after OSH. Super fast 8 gig drive. Great for photos, videos, music or your POH. Plus you look super hip having a Mooney keychain to boot. $20
  20. I love the space bags that you vacuum close. The fluffy stuff like pillows, towels and bedding shrink down to about 1/3 size. Mitch always says that I take everything too! There is a Target pretty much across the highway, with a shuttle that runs to it from the North 40. But I swear by the space bags by Ziploc. I found that our pump for the air mattress has a reverse and it did a pretty good job of sucking the air out of the bags on the return trip. For all of us: PLEASE strap down heavy items such as tool bags, bikes, etc. We don't want to lose a member of our Mooney family to a head injury from a flying tool bag.
  21. I know it is a long shot, but we are stopping there for a few nights enroute to OSH. Hoping to find a hangar to tuck the Ovation. Let me know if you have a contact there. Look forward to seeing folks at OSH. Sunday night is the Mooney Caravan BBQ. Just so you know, Mooney Forums on Monday and Wednesday. ArtCraft Paint will be there, look in program for location. Mitch and I are presenting to General Aviation Manufacturing/Build-A-plane. And of course the band concert is Wednesday night [i will be on alto sax, Mitch on trumpet.] Thanks Jolie
  22. Hi Larry The front logo is all the same. On the back I have three different sayings, as we have a new one each year. The first year was "What have YOU done for GA Lately?" the second year was "Inspire the Love of Flight" and this year is "Fly it Forward!" The photos show the back of this years. I do have a few of the other sayings, but not much. I am down to six sweatshirts.... so get em if you want them
  23. Tom, I will have some Moo-drives available at OSH. They are a keychain Mooney with a cool thumb drive hidden in them. $20.
