  1. They at 1/2 nicely negate the need for attitude adjustment/trim with gear down/transition.
  2. Bose, of course! (because they can afford treating customers like that) There are two options: (a) A30 w/ GA plugs + $300 swappable Bose LEMO connector (b) A30 w/ LEMO conn + $30 LEMO-GA plugs adapter Could someone confirm that A30 w/ LEMO also has batteries as back up?
  3. What's the conventional wisdom here? I have Bose and GA plugs in my Mooney, and I have A20 w/ GA plugs. Getting a second headset, A30, and I am thinking if Bose connector has any advantage other than being a/c powered. Any advice?
  4. I second Joey Cole -- he'll provide a good feedback if you have scanned logbooks.
  5. How old is the CO sensor? They have ~2 year lifespan.
  6. Another vote for Bruce's. I have a full fuselage one, and it covers all openings from the intake air behind the prop all the way to the tail cabin intake. No need for "plugs". The cover has nice microfiber lining that protects the cabin glass, too. Give them a call, you might get a discount.
  7. Great idea to polish the old ones! Thanks.
  8. The taxi/landing lights lenses are "foggy" or "muted" on both wings -- due to the age, methinks. The lights are LEDs, and I'd like to replace the lenses with new ones -- they are available. However, it sounds like the new lenses will need trimming and/or drilling the screw holes. Some sellers offer trimming service if I mail the old lenses. While removing and installing seems to be (a) legal if I do it myself and (b) straightforward I am not sure I have the tools/experience to trim the lenses and drill the holes. I am sure people have done this -- any comments or advice?
  9. Bad wording on my part: "high RPM" -- much closer to the redline.
  10. Yes, you need to rev up a Wankel. Don't shift into 4th, stay in 3rd. (: Since majority of piston aviation engines run at high RPM -- should not be an issue, esp. considering the reduction gearbox.
  11. They have other issues, too, but these are less relevant to the aviation (emission standards). Mazda made last RX-8 with a Wankel engine in 2012.
  12. Turbine makes sense (economically) for HP more than 350, the more, the better. 4 seater with a smaller turbine will burn too much fuel for speed and payload -- the range will suffer. What I'd like to see is a Wankel aircraft. Here is a teaser: https://turb.aero/how-to-buy/certificated-engines Fuel consumption: 12 gph @ 150 HP (or more like 13+ gph) at 10,000 and targeted TBO 3000 hours. I am sure it will be more expensive to maintain, with fewer mechanics knowledgable, etc.
  13. I was looking for a "good" (as in not a "cheapo card") CO detector and the Forensics is cheaper than others and quite small. Put it on my panel (comes with a holder and 3M sticky patch). One downside is it calibrates for about 3 min before it's functional. Upside Amazon had a $20 discount. Also comes in white color (and with less aviation jargon), but more expensive and longer shipping times from Amazon.
  14. I'd add the new Apple Pencil for $130 and a case for $60, but I agree that should do it.
