If you have one, stick a borescope into the vent. You might find a small insect nest blocking the duct path or a disconnected tube. Hope it all worked out!
You mentioned the shop verified the SN. Would be a good idea to speak to Lycoming directly.

I enjoy flying out to KMRF or E38. Spend the night or enjoy Big Bend for a couple days. vfrcar.com or alpine auto rental. Pass by T82 for some breakfast along the way. Lots of accommodations in Marfa, Hotel Paisano is great and has fun history. On occasion I’ve taxied by Prong Horn Antelope native to the region.
I have not experienced that bolt falling out but I have experienced evidence of other loose fasteners in the same way—oil leak/misting. Our cowling design doesn't help much in the way of catching leaks on preflight but taking a peek every 25hrs helps. Rockerbox covers (oil drip), oil return lines near oil sump (oil drip), and top crankcase bolts (oil mist/film). Thanks for the pirep, will be sure to check my pump bolts. Safe flying!
