  1. Hi, I will be at he airport and will get some photos of filler neck...2008 Ovation Think it can total 103 gal Alan
  2. Sounds like you need a degree from MIT to do this!
  3. Thanks everyone....glad to have help Alan
  4. I will go out and give it a try. Seems the GA button disconnects the AP and does only command 7 degrees pitch up with the FD.then pilot must apply full power, follow FD command, set altitude for miss ( or do that in advance) re start AP ,reset flaps and use either NAV or HEADING (if vectors) and with NAV , should proceed on autopilot to published miss and enter holding......I think....Stay Tuned Alan
  5. Mooney People, Using G1000 ( not NXi) , Using a coupled ILS or RNAV approach, will pressing GA button only pitch up FD command or will it proceed to published miss and enter holding? I am under the impression that autopilot will disengage and must be re engaged along with NAV but not sure.....Thanks Alan N913ND
  6. HI PAUL...GOT BACK FROM MEDICAL MEETING TRIP TO SAN FRANCISCO ANDWENT TO CHECK MOONEY. PUT ON BATTERY SWITCH ON G1000 AND ELECTRIC RUDDER TRIM SWITCH (ON GROUND) AND INDICATOR RAN ALL THE WAY RIGHT AND LEFT....SO AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. ILL FLY THIS WEEKEND AND SEE IF I CAN KEEP THE BALL IN THE CENTER. STAY TUNED ALAN
  7. Paul...Super helpful advice ...will check this Alan
  8. Hi Paul, Thank you. Pushing the split switch either right or left does not move the indicator on the MFD. Usually after landing, I set the rudder trim for right rudder for the next take off. I can keep the "ball" centered , of course, with the foot pedals. Alan
  9. Mooney People, On my 2008 ovation with the G1000 , the electric rudder trim switch is stuck....Is this likely to be a G1000 problem of the switch or the servo motor... Any thoughts thanks Alan
  10. Hello Mooney People Just completed the very fine Mooney flight instruction in Ocala. This meeting of Mooney instruction happens around the country about five or six times a year. lectures and four hours of dual. Good chance to learn a lot. very friendly bunch and worthwhile Alan
  11. Mooney People Anyone use a Black Max engine dehydrator? I saw one used on a Bonanza. and the tube is put in the engine breather. Since I live in humid Florida, it seems like a good idea. And where is the Ovation engine breather found? Any thoughts? Thanks Alan
  12. Just straightening up the baggage compartment in Ovation today, I switched on the light back there for the first time. Light came on but then I could not switch it off. Thought I could not leave it on and walk away but a few minutes later the light switched off automatically. Can anyone comment? thanks Alan...N913ND
  13. Hi Schlic...G1000 MFD1 version is 14.02. Perhaps I cannot do flight data downloads. Could then subscribe to Savvy service. Based at KVNC. Venice Airport Often told that software changes are only trouble! Alan
  14. Hi Schlick,,,,Answers have been broken up. I have heard that updating software is a nightmare. I live in South Florida and serious IFR flying is not common. Our bad weather is thunderstorms. Might just keep what I have which works for me. I will make sure Garmin cards are on the two bottoms and I have been putting NAV on the top two SD cards. That works. Thanks to everyone Alan
  15. Hi BlueDun and Danb Looked it up and PDF 1 is 14.02. Should this be updated to a newer version? I have no idea how to do it. My real G1000 question is which database updates go. on which of the four SD cards. And should the MFD upper card be left alone to record flight data? Thanks everyone...Happy New Year Alan N913ND (2008 Ovation
  16. Mooniacs to answer questions.....I am not sure which G1000 version I have! I will look. 2008 Ovation.Version has WAAS. And I have no idea how to upgrade anything not being much of a geek....any clues? Alan ,,,,,Happy New Year everyone
  17. Hi Everyone, Still not sure exactly what to do. I use four SD cards. I have been putting NAV data on both top cards and all but NAV on MFD bottom and same on PFD bottom except Flight Charts. This has worked but I am not sure where I could look for engine data that should, I think , turn up on MFD top. Thanks all but they differ so not really clear and Garmin web sites are no help. If I could get the engine data in MFD. to SD card it would be useful. Only put Flight Charts in MFD bottom. Thank Alan...N913ND ovation 2008 G1000
  18. Mooney People, In my Ovation ,I believe the upper SD card on the MFD can record flight data and at update time I have been putting NAV updates on both upper cards. Perhaps this is wrong? Can anyone review for me which databases should go on each of the four cards? Seems to me that Garmin was never too clear about that. I have never been enough of a computer geek to get it correct. If I could get this right , I could send the cylinder data to Savvy to keep an eye on any problem but not sure how to do that either. Many Thanks, I use the Garmin updates. not the Jepp ones. Alan N913ND 2008 Ovation with G1000
  19. Just Beautiful
  20. Hello Mooney People Who can explain the actual reason why the original G1000 cannot be upgraded to the NXi? Is this a Mooney issue or a Garmin issue............hard to understand!!! Thanks Alan N913 ND 2008 Ovation M20R
  21. Mooney People Had not had a chance to fly for a few weeks and I believe Mike Busch said that this does nothing but not sure. Can pulling the prop through in reverse deposit any oil on the cylinder walls or is it a waste of time??? Thanks Alan N913ND
  22. Hello Steven, I just had the exact same prop sag problem.....You need a new set of engine mounts. And you will go faster.....Ailerons ,I cannot tell but the low sitting prop is an engine mount problem.
  23. What Does that mean?
  24. Have had my 2008 Ovation for four years. When I first did an oil change, I had the same tiny shiny flecks of metal at oil change time. Specks were non ferrous and was told the source could be piston pin rubbing in the cylinder walls. Did scope and never did see any scoring marks and it was suggested just to watch oil changes. After two or three further 30 hour oil changes , the tiny few flakes were no longer there. Oil Analysis was not helpful so never really did figure out where the small amount of very tiny flakes started. I suspect Mike Busch might say the same thing...just watch it...but it is certainly annoying.I. am still curious!! Alan N913ND
